Something very minor but that I adore about the worldbuilding for the game: The references to real pieces of pop culture media.
I can't tell you how much I love it when a piece of media chooses to reference actual pieces of media over going the route of replacing it with some parody version name of it. To me really sells the immersion cause it gives that anchor to our reality in small ways one way or another.
Reading emails in my hell of a situation and having someone complain about only having seasons of saved by the bell to watch of a certain place being compared to Night of the Living Dead just gets me so much more attached to the world.
Anther example of this is the show Pantheon is one of my favorite shows of all time and besides amazing animation/writing, the fact it doesn't shy away from dropping IRL companies/media is a big fact why I love it so much. And same very much applies to Abiotic factor
Hit a bit of a difficulty roadblock in my first playthrough of the game (Also a solo player) and looking for some advice to help progression further.
So my trouble stems from how I am getting bodied as I try to make my way into the Cloud reactor in reactors. The heavy swarm of military and those BLOODY snipers keep blowing my shit of smooth and is making it hard to progress further.
Pic above is my current gear and just looking for advice to hopefully make further progress through the game.
I am so happy ABF collabed with Voices Of the Void or else I might've never played this amazing game. Now, its gonna be the time consuming task of moving my base in the caf into my one and only true home.
To add on some thoughts as a Voices of the void (VOTV) player, omg I can't gush about the map enough. It's such a strange feeling to be in a completely different game yet be back in these Swiss woods and having my map knowledge still apply given the map is that faithfully recreated.
And even the mini-story line through the game, both with Dr. Hud and Dr. Sun on the emails felt right at home with VOTV. Both of course boiling down to ASO being SOBs and sending out talented astronomers as alien bait. Not to mention some important story beats I am dif gonna be using in a VOTV fic (And future crossover fic between VOTV and ABF since this game has got my writing brain working) by actaully filling in some of VOTV's early timeline.
Mainly giving a date range to when the Canary Protocol (Basically the send one person out there to die) began along with history on the map. (Notable the outermost ring of satellites not being built, along with the bunker)
Just about 13 hours in and damn I'm loving this game ^^
I know it likely ain't much but eh its what I got XD
Can't tell if I'm going to fast or slow right now but I'm having my fun and searching every nook. Currently trying to Franke, got a full set of FORGE armor but still getting bodied by some creatures. Tho likely due to being solo which I heard many enemies aren't built around.
About 2 hours in and on my way to Silo 3 to get power cells, wanted to ask some tips for a beginner/some thoughts on the game so far. (Solo Player)
So I just got the game after my previous post and enjoying my time so far but there are two things that are two minor things hampering me rn as I find my barring. MY base is just the breakroom in the caf and on day 3.
Honestly, I feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of items always becoming available to craft and getting a bit of choice paralysis. Is there any good way of focusing or is it just deal with the smorgasbord of items? Also, damn I'm loot goblining so bad XD
Second thing is the map and the feeling like I can never tell where I am. I don't know what it is with me by the paper map without an icon to show where I currently am, makes it feel like I get turned around so easilerly.
Other then that, any other beginner tips would be appreciated
Coming from Voices of the Void and almost no knowledge of what ABF is like as a game. I wanted to ask what the games deal/gameplay is like?
Like the title said, I’m coming from the Voices of the Void community and with little to no knowledge of the game and just wanted to know a little more (preferably As spoiler free as possible) before I think of picking up the game.
From what I do know, people rave about how great the game is and in certain regards looks like it should be up my alley but still wanted to ask the folks on here to get some more perspectives.
So... I thought it would be fun to set an oven to explode halfway across town.
I thought the fire would be contained to the home but overnight it traveled across down and burnt my base... Luckly it avoided my ammo stores so gonna try finding a large car to move out.
