How dim can the QM7K get? For night time watching
I'm trying to decide between the QM6K and QM7K. I'm leaning towards just going for the 7, because I won't be upgrading my tv again like, ever. There's just one deciding factor for choosing between the 6 and the 7.
It's kinda stupid, but I sometimes fall asleep with youtube on the TV to distract myself from the voices. (jk)
From what I've heard, the QM7K actually gets so bright that you can't dim it enough for dark rooms. That would suck for trying to fall asleep.
(please don't lecture me on how bad tv before bed is for sleep quality, I already know)
I currently have a 2019 TCL 43" (too lazy to find the model code) and even on the lowest backlight setting in low power mode, and with an ambient nightlight on, it can be eye piercing if the video has a white background for example.
so would this be a problem with the 7, or can you dim it down a lot? would the 6 be almost as bad anyway? Oh, and I'm mostly talking SDR if that matters.
Also, as an extra bonus question, the only real reason I'm upgrading my tv is because I do want a slightly bigger one for my room, and I want a higher refresh rate for playing racing games with my simracing setup in front of the tv. I'm not a huge movie guy or home theater obsessed, it would mostly be for gaming and youtube. Does the picture quality of the 7 justify the extra price for my use case or should I just go for the 6? The QM6K would already be a massive upgrade from my current old ass TCL and would honestly even make my decent PC monitors seem outdated in comparison.
thank you in advance!
Edit: I didn't realize this sub was so active, thanks for all the great replies. Now to wait for a good sale on the QM7K
