Have had an off and on relationship with father for a while but now I’ve completely cut him off but feel conflicted.
He’s always been a racist bigot. Homophobic etc. about a year ago he finally asked if my son was gay and I told him he indeed was and that we supported and loved him regardless.
He of course made it clear he wanted nothing to do with him anymore. In so many words. He also stopped sending him birthday cards or contacting, which is why I told him I needed distance from him and cut him off.
He’s made no effort to correct that. He’s now apparently not doing well but I still feel the need to stand by my son.
Just curious what others would do in this case? They say if your father is still around you should reach out to him but what if he’s a racist homophobic PoS?
