Signaling question

Gonna keep it short but there are 2 programs (IM) I want to signal and have really strong connections with (residents, attendings etc...) who i know will vouch for me. Problem is that I have step 2 score of 239 and I fall between the 25th to 50th percentile of scores. (For context im a US IMG and these programs are in my home state). It sounds stupid but should i signal the programs that technically without these connections would be out of reach for me and do I require a signal for anyone to vouch for me at these programs.

First time

So for context I'm an MD applying to become a resident this year. I finally have time to myself after 8 years (Shocking I know but dw it is short-lived). I honestly want to go fishing this weekend (I live in Wayne county) but it'll be my first time. Does lake erie have places to fish and to rent those kayaks for fishing?

I also wanted to ask what equipment ill need besides the obvious (fishing rod with reel ofc, life vest, binoculars, bait, water and snacks, ice box)

I apologize if my questions come off as dumb just really wanted to get into something I habe always wanted to do (this and hunting).

Edit: oh and obviously that fishing license

Probably a dumb ah question

Just finished step 2 a month ago and planning to take step three in november. I know that u world is absolutely important for Q Bank, along with the c c s cases.

This might be a dumb question. But there is also something called ccsqbank is that separate from uworld or uworld sufficient for the qbank side of things

Program stats

Ive been finalizing my list for my signals and had 2 questions

  1. a thing i found in some programs was that although their website states they want a first attempt on all boards the IV rate for both with and w/o fails is similar. Does that mean that they dont filter for it? (My criteria is basically the dont filter for fails unless the IV rate drop is Substantial)

  2. Theres a program i plan on silver signaling which i absolutely love but only 5% of the current cohort are US IMGS. Is it still worth signaling

Program selection question

Alot of programs have 2 to 3 selectable options for categorical IM

Internal Medicine - Categorical

And

Internal Medicine - Categorical - NRMP Program Code

Ive just been checking the NRMP code one is that ok

Match 2027

I'm applying for the 2027 match purely IM

- US IMG (US citizen), YOG 2025

- Step 1: Passed on 2nd attempt

- Step 2 CK: 239

- 7 pubs (more in progress)

- 6 months USCE with IM attendings (including former IM PD)

- Currently Clinical Extern + Research Associate for >1 year with multiple interventional cardiologists, including a former chief of cardiology.

I’m a little disappointed with the 239, but overall okay with it. Definitely going to signal programs that are around my stats but just wanted to ask if any US IMG has matched with similat stats!

US IMG IM MATCH 2027

  • US IMG (US citizen)

  • YOG 2025

-Step 1: Passed on 2nd attempt

  • Step 2 CK: 239

  • 10 publications (working on more)

  • 6 months USCE with IM attendings, including a former IM PD & Currently a Clinical Extern + Research Associate (>1 year) with multiple interventional cardiologists, including a former chief of cardiology (total USCE of 1.5 years)

  • Decent home state network with multiple physician connections

  • Planning to complete Step 3 by November 2026

I'm a little bummed about the 239 but overall okay with it. With the Step 1 attempt being my main red flag, how competitive am I for low- to mid-tier IM programs if I apply broadly?

Amboss score predictor

my last 3 nbmes have been low 240s yet the amboss score predictor shows a 247. From this sub it looks like its been fairly accurate for alot of people. Have people scored low 240s on the nbmes and scored higher on the real deal?

Study advice for 245+

So i take step 2 mid June and my last 2 NBMEs (i shall not count nbme 12 in this fuck that nbme got 227 but it fucked my confidencemore then anything) and I got 235s (10 and 13)

Just took the old 2021 free 120 and scored 76%

Is it possible to get to my desired score in the next like 3.5 weeks? Definitely taking 14 through 16 and the new free 120. If anyone's increased their score id love any advice!
