Since everybody's been sharing good jump scares lately, I thought I'd share mine from a few days ago. I was a couple days into a new run in Coastal Highway, hunting rabbits in the Bear Creek area. It's named that way for a reason!
Coming around a hill, I noticed I was walking through some tracks in the snow. "Huh, I wonder if I can tell what animal these came from." Look down, they're very clearly bear tracks. Look up, "Jeez it's a bear!" about 15 feet in front of me. I must have been *just* outside its aggro range and was able to turn and run.
It's so simple. I can't understand why so many people fail at it so consistently. It's the worst on squat racks and benches because there are pegs that are usually labeled for what size plate goes on them and that makes them fit without overlapping and making a mess.
Sometimes I feel like it must be intentional. Like 45 lb plates usually go on the lowest peg by the floor. Why lift it all the way up to the 10 lb plates at chest level unless you're just being a troll? No one wants to move a bunch of 45s to get to the 10s.
"How can you be so obtuse? Is it intentional?"
Picked this lovely game up years ago in very early access days. Pre-Wintermute iirc. Recently jumped back into it and have been enjoying story mode About halfway through Episode 4 at the moment. But I dove back into Survival mode for the first time the other day and... Wow.
A lot has changed. There is so much to do/build/craft/learn. In all my playthroughs from the before time till now, I don't think I ever made it past about 10 days. I know some of y'all are out here building entire second lives, 500-1000 days long.
To be clear: I am not looking for specific instructions (first go here, then here, then do this, etc.), but do we have any general tips for getting out of the early game? What do you focus on early on? Do you travel light, searching for buildings until you have a full set of clothes and tools? Do you hunker down early and start gathering supplies in one spot that you consistently come back to? Do you wait to start gathering animal pelts until you're well set up for clothes/food/etc.?
Also what difficulty level are you playing on?
