She’s a prostitute. He likes hitting people. The villain puckers up.

Hint 1: “He” is a detective with an attitude problem.

Hint 2: “She” is a high priced prostitute who goes by one name.

Hint 3: This film was released and takes place in the 1980’s.

Hint 4: The protagonist loses something he is attached to. Literally.

A homely but creative and charismatic man bags an undeniable ten, while a younger hunkier guy can only manage a short term relationship with a poorly adjusted nerd. Honestly and good communication seemingly win this time?

HINT ZONE:

  • Not animated
  • Involves a long trip in a car
  • Has something to do with fantasy creatures
  • "quirky kids doing sports in a small-ish town yes, Ohio no"
  • features an actor who has delivered in at least two well-known funny movies and some well-known dramas
  • predates the irreverent, raunchy romcom scene of the 2000s and 10s

Aside: can anyone explain why I've been downvoted for saying Eugene Levy is zaddy? Is he not "an attractive older man, particularly one who is fashionable or charismatic"? has he done terrible things since I last looked him up? or do we just hate that specific wording?
