37.1M requests in 24 hours & blocked!
We recently released a feature called BugSmash drop (inspired by Cloudflare and Netlify drop) - where users can simply drop their html or zip and get a live hosted link in seconds.
Idea was - users can have a quick and easy way to upload & host their claude/codex generated html previews and mockups - allowing them to quickly send a live link to their clients where they can review and share their feedback via BugSmash itself.
But, what instead happened -
Someone hosted a live gambling site on BugSmash.
The result -
37.1M hits on our servers in 24 hours!!!
Intermittent outages. Spent hours!!
Had to block the project and send a notice to the user.
Now implementing a check before such sites are uploaded!
So how's your Sunday going? 🥲
