Despite an unknown Brad Pitt- episode production value/filming....feels made for free TV. Very different from other episodes. Very much a "Made for broadcast TV movie of week" vibe. I watched ALL episodes recently. This one has a "movie of week" vibe. Weird and different...
I thought it was a great unique story outside usual Law and Order episodes.
But...can't help to think Olivia Benson once again THE STAR- At worst STAR 1A. After being suspended due to contempt of court. Suspended but still highly involved in investigations- lol. Nowhere near realitiy! She gets gun and badge confiscated but still involved in investigations? I get she is "demoted" to Fin in this episode- but come on. The mere fact she is under suspension- would kill any evidence she participated in obtaining in this episode- absolutely wild!
Unless you like BBC network and dropoff in quality goes to zero. Show goes strictly British...some like it some won't.
You lose ALL star power from seasons 1-6.
You get Liam Neeson's wife who sadly passed...and a youngster named Ewan McGregor before he became a star.
Episode quality drops so so bad. Not Tales From Crypt quality.
Was warned it was bad. Just the change alone from an American show to literally an English (BBC) show is brutal.
Still..a few standout episodes and others entertaining. Love Natasha Richardson and some young English dude named Ewan McGregor pops up. Acting like he could star in Star Wars in 20 years or so! But as far as Tales From The Crypt...being generous a C- season. By far the worst season.
A little over a month ago it was a BIG, BIG deal. First time EVER Tales From The Crypt is back- streaming on Shudder!
Looked like a HUGE draw and a BIG get for Shudder.
Now or in very near future it is on TUBI for FREE and available on Fandango at home.
A+++++ Episode! Terry O'Quinn with more hair (still hardly any) than I ever seen. Kimberly Paisley Williams from "Father of the Bride" movies. Some "supporting" actor named Benicio Del Toro.
A+ Tales From The Crypt. Absolutely fuckn brutal and epic.

Terry O'Quinn does everything including taking a bribe to ensure his daughter is taken care of financially. Gives his daughter his deceased wife's bracelet. Thinks she is killed in a fire finding bracelet. Commits suicide thinking she is dead. Instead she ran off early before fire with Benicio Del Taro to elope.
Ending scene she asks "where is my bracelet- does not matter!" Top 5 episode for me- WOW!
I HATE subtitles. But the audio on Shudder is so darn low I have caved and added subtitles. I wish Shudder could fix the darn audio! It is like listening/watching on an 80's/90's tube TV on low volume!
Tate Donovan from "Love Potion #9" meets "Drop Dead Fred" Tales From The Crypt style- whacky!
The Kurgan from Highlander and memorable role in Starship Troopers...meets Cheech fuckn Marin. This show consistantly has star power. Unlike ANY SHOW EVER...from past or modern times. Simply unbelievable.
Rare unfortunate woman that did nothing intentionally wrong in Tales From Crypt. Caught the ax for breaking down on road. Had a creep pick her up and the creep got no repercussions.
Weird episode- no intentional cheating or other crimes leading up to it like most episodes.
As a horror fan in late 40s- can't express how happy I am all episodes on Shudder. As a kid caught many episodes on HBO. Bought all seasons on DVD and watched 20 plus years ago. Some episodes I really remember but a ton I forgot about. 7 out of 10 episodes are outstanding. The others are just GOOD. In season 5 on rewatch not seen one terrible episode. Even the "bad" ones are 8 out of 10 times fun.
On fence on Shudder renewal before they got Tales from Crypt. The fact I can see these episodes again and again alone cemented renewing my subscription.
The late great Bill Paxton and Chucky himself- Brad Dourif. Never expected an "Ice cream man" episode in Tales From The Crypt!
Who would think the origional Batman...Adam West would be in Tales From the Crypt? Wow!
Tim Curry pulling dual roles in drag- Eddie Murphy vibes! Ed Begley Jr. (big in 80's/early 90's) plays the creep salesman. Sooo good!
After three clunkers in a row (including Brad Pitt) Joe Pesci shows up with most hair I ever seen on him- even in Lethal Weapon flicks.
Moral of story is wear sunscreen! LOL!
Heard others complain about audio lag. I have had that too. But more so audio goes from hard to hear to extremely loud. Anybody else experiencing this?
