I ask in search of answers from A.I. monitors & specialists...
To what extent is Reddit's "policy enforcement" driven by automation or artificial intelligence - as in authorized power of judgement/censorship?
Reddit removed/censored my comment on r/International & also suspended my account for the past 3 days for a sarcastic (non-violent) comment I made... On the basis of the claim that I was "threatening violence" (against a ruling warlord world-leader.)
In reality, I made no threat & there was no violent content involved in my comment, whatsoever.
The message from the Mod read: "This content was flagged by Reddit's automated system. The decision was taken using *automation*"
Does "automation" mean A.I. judges are making decisions & enforcing them here?
I filed an appeal against this arbitrary automated decision-making process...
*Reddit only allocates a teeny-tiny box in which one can file an appeal/objection.
Then I got the very same automated response in my email - no new reply.
Thus, I have been given no explanation - other than automation did it.
I love Reddit's platform/community. Yet I greatly dislike & disapprove of the censorship + gagging that I've experienced.
The Reddit Mods may be A.I. or humans? Yet the Mods are not Gods... They are not infallible decision makers.
Oftentimes, the Mods are just wrong!
How can we Reddit users hold a judgemental Mod to account - when one feels they have not violated any rules/policies, or terms of agreement?
Personally, I've only been censorsed & silenced on Reddit... Not on any other social-media platform.
Is this due to "automation" in decision-making?
I read that there is actually more automated censorship on other social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube? Is this accurate?
Is anyone else feeling increased, or unjustified, censorship from automated Reddit Mods?
