I’m really excited for it! She talked about The Land on this week’s episode of That Was Us and it sounds like Mandy’s playing a very different character from Rebecca. I’m looking forward to seeing her branch out and the cast looks good too! William H. Macy who played Frank on Shameless plays her dad. Omar Epps who played Malik’s dad is in it! They just announced yesterday the first 2 episodes drop after The Superbowl! Very fitting!
This was one of my least favorite storylines in the show. I did like seeing Victor date someone new and Nick was really nice, they just weren’t a good match. Both Mia and Benji were serious relationships for Victor, so he assumed Nick would be the same way. He wasn’t used to somebody who likes to keep things casual with hookups. I wish we saw Victor explain that to Nick instead of settling for being casual. Simon also would’ve been really useful in this storyline for him. Victor could’ve told him that he started seeing someone new, but doesn’t understand the casual thing. Simon could’ve explained that not everyone wants or has the time for a serious relationship.
I like that Victor stood up for himself and told Nick through voicemail that he wants something more. Nick didn’t explain why he’s so intent on keeping it casual. I feel like isn’t explored a lot with gay couples on tv and it would’ve been great to see that conversation. But instead Nick was just like, “fine we’ll do the relationship thing if that’s what you want.” He didn’t say that to Victor, but he probably thought it before he showed up at Victor’s house with flowers.
How do you think he would’ve been in the lab with all those other kids who have powers? Ever since that first scene in season 5 where Will uses them, I always thought it would be cool if we got an episode where he goes to the lab and meets Papa and those other kids. Brenner probably would’ve found Will’s version of powers really interesting since they’re similar to Vecna’s. It would’ve been a similar arc with season 4 El in school where season 5 Will gets bullied by those other kids in the lab and El has to protect him. Can you imagine Number Two with him? Will could take him!
I hated the way Jack was with him when they saw each other long after Vietnam! It was so frustrating that he tried so hard to push that part of his life away that he never let Nicky explain that what happened with the little boy was a big mistake. I wanted Nicky to be a little bit more forceful and just yell “it was an accident!” But Jack never let him get a word out and Nicky just dropped it. If he let him explain, Jack probably would’ve helped clean Nicky up and been a part of his life. The kids could’ve had an uncle in their lives.
I also hated that Kevin was really the only one who wanted a relationship with Nicky when they found him. Kate and Randall were never that invested with him. I thought Kate would be, given how close she was to Jack and would’ve had a bunch of questions about his childhood.
The superintendent was totally overreacting! Prinicipal Franklin is really cool and laid back with the students at Ridgeway. I know he looked really unprofessional during the webshow with the giant pants and sitting on fudge balls, but he wasn’t doing it for work. He was just doing something with his students to celebrate his daughter’s birthday on her favorite webshow. I thought it was really sweet of Carly, Sam, and Freddie to rearrange iCarly just to put that together for him. They probably don’t even know his daughter, but still went all out.
