Should I play Alan Wake before Control AWE?

I've been playing through Control for the first time in preparation for Control Resonant, and I just have the AWE DLC left in order to 100% the game. I knew Control and Alan Wake were in the same universe, but I didn't know how much of a direct connection the two have through the DLC. I don't really want to set aside Control right before finishing it, but from what little info been able to find without spoilers, it seems pretty important. Any good way to approach this?

Is the magnet effect worth keeping over better stats?

I've been using the Vindicator bracelet for almost 25 levels at this point, and I'm starting to get better gear, but none have the magnet effect. I took a pretty long break, and the last time I played was when item pickups were pretty laggy and inconsistent, so magnet just made things a lot easier. But it seems the game has gotten a lot better, and I still really like the effect, however, it's definitely time for an upgrade. I'm wondering how long I could get away with using it or if there are other accessories with the effect?

This game is not good for my hoarding addiction.

Almost done with my first playthrough, and I'm hoping this is pretty tame in comparison to other players.

Does playing through a mod loader like forge cause any complications?

I’m jumping back into the game after a little over a year and going through this sub sing all of the companion mods and add ons people are using. Overall I don’t really need most of them but the in game mini map and world maps would be a game changer. I am concerned that playing through a mod loader might cause some character or profile issues, and potentially result in losing progress, items, or just straight up character slot corruption. Are there any known bugs or other problems?

Is there any way I can repair my items without use the scrap in my bank?

I’m coming back to the game after a year and finally getting around to leveling my professions. I have 3 stacks of repair scrap in my bank that I was using before figuring out you can’t get it any more. I’d like to hold onto it and I figured you could repair items without it but it only gives me the option to use scrap when repairing. Is there any way to repair without it?

Are there any major risks when downgrading a game?

With the recent Dying Light 2 update and Tencent seemingly trying to kill this game as fast as they can, I wanted to try and downgrade the game to a version from 2023. I’ve looked into it and it seems like the biggest issue would be losing save data but I was wanting to start a new playthrough anyway so I’m not too worried about that. I’m not entirely sure if it’s even possible to restore such an old version but I’d like to avoid any other risks in the process if there are any.

Does the demo feel unfinished for anyone else?

Playing through the demo and I can’t help but think a lot of features feel very janky and unfinished, like this is a beta rather than a demo.

The most glaringly obvious issue is PC controls. I don’t know what the feature is called, but having your camera slow down when you slightly move your mouse makes it such a pain to look around outside of combat. There were a lot of times also when button inputs just wouldn’t work both in and out of combat. In some shops or other menus, the escape key didn’t work sometimes and in combat my block button also wouldn’t register sometimes.

Kinda a small nitpick lastly, but character animations during dialogue seemed very stiff and robotic. I’m not expecting DS2 level of detail but it was a little off putting.

Overall I’m very much enjoying the demo, but it feels like it need some work, especially for keyboard and mouse. Thoughts?
