Synopsis: You were sold by your family to the mayor to be his slave. One day, a group of Vikings come to ransack the town. What will happen when the leader finds you?

SFX: Fighting and destruction fades out

Clear out all the rooms and look for anything we can take back. Gold, food, water, all of it. Nothing valuable gets left behind.

SFX: Warriors looking through things

I’m going to look in the mayor’s home for the good stuff. Make sure the boats are ready to go when I come back.

SFX: Footsteps outside, opening a door, footsteps in the house, suddenly a creak

(Confident, taking joy in this) Who’s there? I can hear you. Don’t make this more challenging than it needs to be. If you come out now, I won’t have to punish you. It’s up to you, coward.

SFX: Footsteps

(Laughing) Ah, there you are- (Shocked, softer tone) Y- You’re just a child! Oh, little one, what are you doing here?

No no, shhh, it’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you. See? I’ll put down my sword.

(Getting a bit angry, but trying to keep calm) W-What? A… slave of the mayor?

This is the Town hall. Yes, it is quite the sight. It took us a couple winters to build. This is a place for everyone to come and spend time. All celebrations and meetings are held here.

Come, there is something else I want to show you.

Yes, this is my room. It’s a bit small for two, but it’ll do the trick.

SFX: Running Footsteps And Wolf Growls and Howls And Grunts from fighting the wolves off

(In a soft voice) oh, my child are you ok? That must have been scary. What happened?

You were using the bathroom when the wolf ran out at you? You screamed for me?

We need to ensure we are ready for battle, do we have everything ready to go? Weapons, armor, shields? Good. And the townspeople, do they know what to do if something happens? That is good as well, at least I don’t have that to worry about anymore.

SFX: Door opens a peek

(In a softer voice)

(In a soft tone)

My child? Oh thank the gods you are awake, I was so worried about you! When that man threw you I was so worried, I thought that.. Never mind. That it is all done and over now, you are safe and those men are gone. (More cheerful) Tonight we will drink and sing and celebrate their deaths. We will sing so loud they will be able to hear us from Valhalla!

Have you never heard of Valhalla before? Well, let me tell you. It's a majestic hall watched over by the god Odin. It’s for those who died in battle, only the best of the best get chosen to reside in his hall. Maybe one day you will be in that hall, my child.

Will I? I am not sure my child, maybe I will be, and if I do I hope I get to see some of my friends again, (thoughtfully) and perhaps even him...

I mean my late husband. He was an amazing man and the love of my life. And I am sure he would have loved you just as much as I do my child.

My child, from the day I found you trapped and locked in that room my life has turned upside down, but it was all for the better. I never thought I would be able to feel like this after I lost my family. I was a shell of myself. I locked away my feelings. But you unlocked them, and you made me able to laugh and love again. I'm not sure I would have been able to win today, so my child, my light, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot wait to see you grow into the leader and warrior I know you can be. I love you, my child .

(Happy sigh)I can’t wait to see the person you will become. I know you can do whatever you want my child, I just know you can! I believe in you so much and I will love you until my last breath.
