I’m in the process of potentially relocating with my family within the UK. I’m keen to hear experiences of life as an EM consultant in different areas. I totally appreciate the pressures of working in the ED. It is not an easy job at all. However, are there aspects of your job that you love? Does your department allow good work/life balance? Do you like what the surrounding area offers you for your personal time? Do you have a fabulous team or a flexible rota?

We are considering Scotland or north west England due to family, but keen to hear from all over!

Recently I’ve realised that my mum might be a covert narcissist. My sister and her husband had a dispute and my mum told me she was considering reporting him to his work. In my opinion this is totally not required, or appropriate and is just wrong. I told her this, but I also decided to tell my sister what she had said because I’m genuinely concerned about what she is capable of. Essentially I was advising my sister not to tell my mum anything that she cares about. I hate meddling and advising her to do this but I’m worried that my mum could ruin lives if she starts over reacting and twisting stories like she has always done.

My sister is understandably upset and I’m just wondering if I’ve done the right thing by telling her what my mum has said. Have I caused even more trouble? Probably my mum is just saying things for dramatic effect but I’m honestly never sure.

How would you handle this? And what should I do if she says anything like this in the future? I’m also not sure how to handle my mum if she finds out I’ve told my sister but I at the time I thought it was worth the risk.

I used to love reading diary style/lifestyle/fitness type blogs. A lot of the ones I followed have either stopped or become quite professional. Would love to follow some old school blogs if there are any out there?
