I am a professional video editor, but I've only ever used Premiere Pro; what are your thoughts on Final Cut Pro?

Question's in the title, I'm sick and tired of the annual repayment for CC. I know PP is the standard in many ways, but for my work which is 99% social media/simpler edits, I'm wondering if I can't get by with a Macbook Pro + Final Cut as (an expensive) once-off payment.

From what I'm seeing, people are saying in general that it's a lot less powerful and less versatile than PP. I do use key frames a ton and I'm wondering if I'll regret the move to a "simpler" NLE. Any thoughts are welcome, I did do a search for this in the sub but the posts I found were older.

Edit: Hi again editor friends, just wanted to say thanks a lot to all the responses here. It's too many to personally respond to everyone, but you've given me more than I bargained for and then some. In the meantime I'm going to download DaVinci Resolve--I wish I could try FCP on PC somehow, just to at least see if I'd like the UI/workflow, but committing to an expensive MBP just to give it a go on the free trial is a tall order. So in the meantime, DVR/DR it is :) Thanks!

As Mines become a bigger challenge later-wipe, maybe the Bobcat should be immune?

Hear me out, the Bobcat ATV is virtually useless--but it is super lightweight.

What if the Bobcat was immune to triggering AT Mines?

It's a small change, but could make for fun cat-and-mouse gameplay between mine-layers and base Rangers protecting the roads. Bobcat could drive ahead of supply Urals for instance, clearing the road.

Toxic Positivity at CIG

I used to turn my nose up at this phrase, but after the livestream it seems like CIG is the poster child of toxic positivity.

The way the developers spoke during the show was really awkward, like they were tip-toeing across a lake of thin ice. It seems like the internal modus operandus is very much "Smile and Wave" and pretend everything is fine. Devs like Elliot are known for being outspoken, and even he seemed uncomfortable.

It's basically Jared giving a blanket "We know there are bugs" at some portion of a given livestream and then everyone else pretending it's business as usual. This is not normal at any game studio or software development company. I got loads of hate a few years ago for being skeptical about the grandiose claims that "Server meshing will fix performance!" -- now, showcasing an internal "how it's meant to be played" build, even the eternally optimistic commenters of the Star Citizen YouTube channel are in shambles.

Take it from someone who has shipped video games before (small indie teams, but serious games): If you can't have an open and honest conversation about the state of your software, you will spend years in builds that are riddled with bugs and performance issu--- oh... that's how we got here.

Again, this is textbook toxic positivity. It's a sales team that sells sunshine and daisies while tech and production are in an absolute inferno.

This is not good, and I don't know how long CIG has to right the course of this slow-steering behemoth ship before it hits an inevitable iceberg.

Spamming Right Mouse Button nearly doubles Resonating Shield Attack Speed

I tested it in maps, and it does work. Definitely shouldn't be working this way.

Anyone else think this would be a nice QoL?

Probably niche, but I'm currently using the website to store searches (URLs) I go back to time-to-time. Would be nice to have that in-game.
