First time driver begging for clarity?

Hello you guys, I am 22 and I want to get my license by August so I can take myself to and from school and take my mom to work so she can save a ton not having to rely on Uber and Lyft. I have always had a fear of driving but at this point having a fear of driving is less spooky, compared to taking the bus/light rail hours to and from. So my question is, would I need to hold my permit for 12 months before I can get my license or can I get my permit and then turn around and take my drivers test. I am very confident in my skills, I’ve practiced before but I know I will need to do it a lot more.

Please don’t judge me for not having my license or permit yet, I know I’m too old to not know these things.

Edit: Got the answer! Thank you! Good morning to you all as well.

Need help deciding if I need to immediately go into debt to buy a new laptop for college

I’m in a bit of a pickle. I have an Samsung Chromebook 4+ 15.6 inches 2019 I believe, that I purchased in 2020 or 2021. I love how big the screen is but I’m going into my freshman year of college and was wondering if my device would be a smooth-ish running device while doing schoolwork. A lot of it lol. I believe my schools system runs through google and not Microsoft. If you guys have any tips or preventative measures to ensure the best performance for this semester please let me know. If not could you also drop some affordable option you’d think would be good and won’t put me into debt please let me know! Thank you in advance if you are kind enough to give me some insight. I hope you guys have a beautiful morning.

(Note: Honestly my entire savings went into my college fund account. At this very moment I do NOT have the ability to go my local best buy or Walmart and just purchase a new Chromebook.)
