I (35M) have realized over the past few years that I'll probably never be asked to be a best man or a godfather.

I have two nephews (through my sister), whose godparents are the grandmother from one side and the grandfather of the other side. When my sister finally realised our father has always been a D-bag, she choose my younger brother as a replacement.
When that brother had my niece, he asked our older brother as godfather. They have indicated they'll probably won't have more kids.
My GF is the godmother of her cousin (21y age gap).
We have 2 couples as friends that are trying or will be trying for children very soon, but neither will probably ask me. They all have other, more logical people to ask.

When my younger brother married, he asked his best friend as best man.
When my older brother married, they didn't have a best man or MOH. They were wed in Vegas, just the two of them.
When my best friend was getting married, she asked her female best friend as MOH. They have a deeper bond, so not onlogical.
And again, with the couples as friends, they have other people that are more natural choices.

I know being asked is not a given or a right, but man... It hurts to realise you're not close enough with anyone to be asked for either honor, while so many people around you are. It's not that I don't have a deep connection with the people around me, it's just not deep enough, appearantly.
