Fire

Today I went in to work at 6 AM like normal. We were doing planos and after a couple hours we started smelling something burning. I’ve smelt this in there before and let a manager know and they laughed it off, so has one of my coworkers.

My OM went into the salon to get more displays, and it was smokey in there. We all had to go outside while she called the fire dept. 6 fire trucks showed up. They must have all been bored. They said it was something to do with the water heater and some wires got fried.

They shut off our water and power to the water heater, and after 30 minutes outside we got to go back in. This was about 10 o’clock at this point, and our GM told us all to pick up the pace and get everything done, because we were opening on time at 11.

We all booked it and got everything done in half an hour. The store still smelled like burning so hopefully it didn’t bother any customers 🤷‍♀️

Today I ordered a few things from Walmart to be picked up. Actually, two things: a box of coffee bags and a box of pens. I received an email that my order was ready, so I went to pick it up. I was about half an hour late. I checked in and entered my parking spot number and car information. I sat and watched all the cars around me with their huge multiple crate orders get serviced, then drive away. Fine, they were there before me.

Then I was the only car left, and I waited ten minutes more and no one was coming out. Three or four more cars pulled in and were immediately serviced. I managed to get the attention of one of the employees and politely told them I’d been waiting for 20 minutes and that cars that were there after me were getting their orders, but I was not. He asked me if I put in my parking spot and I said yes. He then looked at his little device and said my order was “being distributed now”.

I proceeded to wait another 25 minutes til my order came out finally. Total wait time, 45 minutes. I was not happy. I’m not going to use Walmart pickup anymore. Even if I’m hurting like I was today and didn’t want to walk around the store (I have fibromyalgia). I could have gone in and bought those items ten times over with the amount of time I waited. It’s not worth it.

It wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t got the email that said my order was ready. Why say it’s ready if it hasn’t even been picked yet?
