BBoBBoSS: Boulder Battling over Battle Beacons on Second Sunday

Location: Boulder, Colorado, USA (Historic Boulder Courthouse on the Pearl Street Mall)

Date: 11 October 2026 (Second Sunday)

Accomplishments: Multiple agents obtaining Gold Cygnus Global Battle badge and progress on their Cygnus Anomaly Season badge.

We had a turnout rivaling that of First Saturday at our hastily organized friendly xfac Battle Beacon gathering at the Pearl Street Mall in sunny Boulder Colorado. With close to 100 battle beacons deployed as we walked the pedestrian mall and nearby creek path, we had a blast making quick work getting progress and our badges.

The only near disaster was when we were admiring a beautiful repurposed cottonwood stump that is a giant little free library and Ingress portal while having a group discussion about needing more bursters to “blow things up”… while the homeowner was out front!!! I don’t think it was entirely clear to them that we were talking about out our game, but thankfully we must not have looked threatening, or all of us staring at our phones was a giveaway that we were just a bunch of gaming nerds!

Thanks to all who joined and put up with yet another “oops, another event we weren’t aware of” festival taking place today.

Hope other communities can organize to get this badge. As others have said, it would have been really helpful if Niantic had made some indicator showing that you had interacted with a battle beacon, but if you simply overwhelm with number of deployed beacons and interactions you make, it works out in the end assuming agreed upon cooperation. Best of luck all who are trying.

IFS Littleton Colorado October 2026

Thanks to everyone who handled the minor hiccups with today’s First Saturday in Littleton…. Think of it as a hangover from a successful Denver anomaly last month!

Despite checking the event schedule we arrived to find 1/4 of the venue closing - including access to our Base Portal and the majority of our passcode portals! Thankfully with some generous reaching beyond the barrier, everyone managed to hack the base portal. A few intrepid (better dressed so not to disturb the arriving wedding guests?) agents managed to hack the portals needed before getting shoed back beyond the barriers and First Saturday continued.

Battle beacons aplenty were deployed through the remainder of the gardens. I think everyone managed at least the first level of the event badge, many reached the second tier.

We went with the silly pic proving that we followed the rules. More pics showing how beautiful the Hudson Gardens were on this exceptionally warm October day are in the comments.

Bargain hunting for meat? Try Louisville King Soopers.

Had to add that second sentence for the title or I knew I’d hear all the NSFW responses. Be kind! 😛

The new mega-size King Soopers in Louisville (we are a Boulder County sub, so Louisville counts) seems to still be working out its inventory/ordering and if your budget is a little tight, the drive to Louisville location might be worth it. For instance, a pack of pork chops that is normally $10 was slashed to $3 something. Of course the “best buy” date is tomorrow, so plan on cooking them tonight. There were similar deals for various cuts of beef and some sort of beef/pork blend and some brats.

This is the site of the old Lowe’s. Near the (also closed) Colony movie theatre.

FirstBank to PNC transition - Boulder branch long wait times

Wear your patience hat if you have to attempt to navigate by phone or go in person to resolve issues. Hours on the phone for many people and issues still weren’t resolved and they are now here in person.

Just a PSA for those that are either having problems with the transition or are helping elderly family or neighbors, plan on well over an hour wait for help at the PNC next to Whole Foods.

Currently hour plus in person wait times on Tuesday morning.

They’re understaffed and it’s filled with people that have had accounts with FirstBank for 50 years and are overwhelmed with making the transition. Not enough staff here. Not enough seating. No real clue how long the wait will be. Many of the staff that are here have been brought in from out of state.

Supposedly the Longmont former FirstBank location had an even longer wait.

I never understood women carrying hand fans in their purse

I used to be incredulous that anyone would ever need to have a hand fan in their purse. I’m traveling in a place hotter and much more humid than my home and I’m dying. I saw a woman walking by using her hand fan and the jealousy was real.

When shopping, a shopkeeper took one look at me and just handed me a bottle of water. Hahaha.
