Crossed links?

Didn’t think it was possible to cross links, but it gave me the option so I did…is this a glitch or something now possible?

[Update] "His judgment cometh, and that right soon..." The AI-OPR Clot saga finally reaches an end.

Hey agents,

Remember that massive AI-driven OPR abuse ring we exposed a few months ago? It feels a bit like this scandal is finally coming to a close.

I wanted to drop a quick status update on the whole "AI-OPR Clot" saga. For those who read our initial investigation (For Whom the Bell Tolls), you know this was never about faction drama—it was just raw, undeniable facts.

Here’s how the timeline actually played out:

  • Nov 2025: NIAS announced the return of OPR after the old Wayfarer system got bundled and sold off with Pokémon GO. We were pumped to rebuild the foundation of the Portal Network, but little did we know the automation rings were already setting up their grift.
  • Feb 2026: NIAS quietly pushed a frontend update that displayed the exact timestamps for when tiered badges were earned. That was the smoking gun. Armed with the proof of those impossible completion times, we published our report detailing the automated abuse and handed our findings over to NIA.
  • Mar 11, 2026: Total lockdown. NIAS officially paused OPR and all new portal nominations to "realign" their tech.
  • Mar 18, 2026: His judgment cometh, and that right soon. NIAS dropped the hammer. Over 50 accounts in China were slapped with a 31-day ban. We've heard this is impacting players in other regions worldwide, too.
  • Apr 18, 2026: Their time in solitary was up. The banned players got back on the grid.
  • May 2026 (Now): Here is the real kicker—those previously banned players just lost their RECON badges. I'm not 100% sure if the removal is permanent, but it sends a massive message.

Honestly, seeing those badges vanish felt exactly like Warden Norton opening his wall safe only to find a hollowed-out Bible. It took pressure and time, but the system actually worked. By Niantic's usual standards, getting this resolved in a few months is incredibly fast.

It looks like this chapter is finally closing. Now, we just have to hope NIAS gets OPR submissions back online soon and tightens up the review mechanics so we don’t have to dig through this kind of mess again.

Huge thanks to everyone in the community who kept their eyes on this and helped spread the word. Let's keep it fair, together.

Ack - someone returned my drone via a jarvis

I was working on sojourner 170 days. Portal too far to visit today.

I have a key to portal, but I guess you have to physically visit it?

Orion Prague was shameful

...for Niantic.

And here I thought only Blizzard were this bad at anticipating server stability when launching events or in their case Addons/Patches.

Spent quite some money to attend only to look at a broken scanner for close to three hours before giving up to try and do some missions only for the mission menu to bug out too. Nice.

At least meeting some people and seeing the City paid Off, but still what a shameful display on Niantic's side

My team is decisively winning, should I switch?

Years later, in a different city, I want to return to the game. But my team from my old account is decisively winning. I feel like there is not much for me to do here without strong opposition. Should I just create another account on the losing side?

What's the community like in Utah?

So, I may start playing. Just wondering if there's an active community in Utah and, if so, what faction is dominant in Utah (Utah Valley and SLC area). And for that matter, whether it's more rewarding to play as the dominant faction or as the underdog.

Insights?

Goruck ingress lima peru

The GoRuck events in Sydney and Prague have been cancelled, and the Lima, Peru event is in jeopardy. A great idea would be to design a new medal to encourage more registrations for GoRuck. They have plenty of time to do it; it's very frustrating when events are cancelled, knowing that planning a trip takes money and time.

Large Cross Faction Layered Field?

Does anyone have any examples of a cross Faction multi Layered Field, where it starts with a small blue triangle, a slightly larger green triangle gets added on top, then another blue one, rinse and repeat, until you have one large green/blue striped field?

Ingress Insights Podcast: Episode 155 - Hank's Courier Files, Orion results and a leaked feature?

Hello Agents, this weeks episode goes over the recent Courier Files announcement, the Anomalies including all the lag in Prague (those seem like they should rhyme but do not).

I also talk about a possible upcoming feature that a reliable source shared with me but I feel I didn’t do a great job in explaining it so took to BlueSky this morning to try and explain better so please do check there - https://bsky.app/profile/ingressinsights.bsky.social/post/3mlzqg67c6s22

It seems like a post about a feature I made may come true? Sadly it’s not FitRep Rewards. Maybe next time Brian?
