I've been running a small electronics flipping/refurbishing business for 3 years (mostly high-end Dels), and I’m hitting a major wall with the "remote" part of my business.

I recently tried scaling with a supplier in HK, but my eBay customers expect US-based shipping speeds. I posted over in r/Flipping about using warehouses, but the consensus was that for my low volume (1-2 premium workstations a week), the $200/mo corporate warehouse fees + 3-day lag for processing are just killing my margins and my seller rating.

I’m trying to figure out how other remote-first companies handle this. For those of you in remote ops, how do you handle "last-mile" logistics?

I’ve been considering just finding a 'Logistics Assistant' - basically an individual with a home office who can act as a US hub, but I have no idea how to safely set that up. For the value I’m moving, I’d happily pay someone $150-$200 per unit just to handle the 4-hour turnaround (receive, inspect, re-label, drop-off). It’s a huge "hourly rate" for them, but for me, it’s just the cost of ensuring my $3,000 units don't sit in a dusty warehouse for a week.

Is there a platform for this? Or is "peer-to-peer" logistics just too risky for high-ticket items? I looked at TaskRabbit but they don't seem set up for ongoing residential receiving.

Any advice from people in the remote space on how to bridge this gap between "too small for a warehouse" but "too big to do it all myself from overseas"?

Following up on my last post about sourcing Dell Latitudes from HK. I’ve realized warehouses are a total non-starter for the high-end units I'm moving. I’m dealing with custom-spec workstations that sell for $2,500-$3,500. A warehouse taking 3 days to "process" a pallet is losing me Top-Rated Seller status and causing buyer cancellations.

I’ve decided I’d rather just pay a premium to an individual. I'm looking to pay $150 to $200 per unit just to have someone receive the box, snap 3 photos of the condition, and drop it back at a UPS/FedEx hub within 4 hours of delivery.

It sounds like a lot for 20 minutes of work, but if I move 2 units a week, I’d happily pay $400/week ($1,600+ a month) for someone to basically be my "US Logistics Partner." To me, that $200 is just "insurance" to make sure the buyer gets it in 2 days instead of 7.

My question: Where the hell do you find these people?

I need a residential address (commercial addresses get flagged by my HK supplier sometimes), and they need to be home during the day. Is there a specific site for this? I’m hesitant to use casual sites like Craigslist because the hardware is so expensive.

Should I be looking for virtual assistants, or is there a better way to find a reliable "on-call" person for this?

I've been flipping for about 3 years mostly clothes and electronics. I recently found a wholesaler in Hong Kong with great prices on Dell Latitude laptops but there's one problem I can't figure out.

Shipping from Hong Kong to a US buyer takes 18 to 25 days. That kills my eBay handling time and leads to cancellations and pissed off customers. I've tried explaining the delay in listings but it doesn't matter buyers still expect 5 to 7 day delivery.

I'm curious how other people here handle this when sourcing internationally. Do you bulk ship to a US address first and then forward individually? Do you use a freight forwarder? Or do you just accept the long shipping times and price accordingly?

I looked into services like Shipito and MyUS but the costs eat into margins pretty heavily when you're moving 10 to 20 units a month.

If you do use a US based receiver, how did you find someone reliable? I've considered asking a friend but I don't know anyone with the space or availability.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I run a small furniture resale operation and I'm looking for reliable people in Michigan (and a few other states) to join as independent contractors.

Here is how it works:

I find the inventory. Returns, overstock, and gently used furniture and mattresses from retailers. You just:

  • Pick it up (I tell you where and when)
  • Store it in your garage or spare room
  • Clean it up a little
  • Post it on Facebook Marketplace (I give you the templates and photo tips)
  • Hand it off to the buyer

You get paid $80 to $150 per item within 24 hours of the sale. No fees. No startup costs. No split. That is your full cut.

Realistic numbers:

  • Slow pace (a few sales a month) - $400 to $500 extra
  • Moderate pace (consistent effort) - $1,500 to $2,000 a month
  • People with trucks and decent storage space do best

What I need from you:

  • A garage, basement, or spare room for storage
  • A smartphone
  • Ability to move furniture (some items are bulky and heavy)
  • A truck or large SUV preferred but not required

Why people like this:

  • You set your own schedule. No set hours.
  • You never have to hunt for inventory. I bring the work to you.
  • It is straightforward. Pick up, clean, list, sell, repeat.
  • I handle the supply side. You handle the local side.

📍 Currently prioritizing Michigan and Tennessee, but open to other states.

If you are interested, drop a comment with your city and what vehicle you have. I will PM you the details.

Also, if you have ever flipped furniture, sold on Marketplace, done eBay, or tried any kind of reselling before, let me know in the comments. Curious what experience is out there.

We are a small furniture resale operation expanding our network of independent contractors across the US.

What the work involves:

  1. We notify you when a returned or lightly used furniture item or mattress becomes available near your location
  2. You drive to the pickup point and collect the item
  3. You store the item temporarily at your home, garage, or spare room
  4. You clean and prep the item as needed
  5. You list the item on Facebook Marketplace using templates and guidance we provide
  6. Once the item sells, you arrange local handoff with the buyer
  7. You receive a flat payment per completed sale, paid via PayPal or bank transfer within 24 hours of sale confirmation

Payment structure:

  • $80 to $150 flat rate per item sold depending on item type and condition
  • Contractors completing a few sales per month consistently earn $400 to $500
  • Contractors taking on higher volume consistently earn $1,500 to $2,000 per month
  • No startup costs, no fees, no deductions on your end

What you will need:

  • A garage, spare room, or storage space large enough for furniture
  • A smartphone with Facebook Marketplace
  • Ability to handle bulky and heavy items
  • A pickup truck or cargo van preferred, but any large capacity vehicle considered

What we provide:

  • Full onboarding walkthrough before your first pickup
  • Listing templates and photo guidance
  • Ongoing support via text or call

No prior experience required. We will walk you through everything before you start.

Currently prioritizing applicants in Michigan and Tennessee, but open to all US states.

To apply, please send a PM with:

  • Your city and state
  • What vehicle you drive
  • How much storage space you have available

Been running a furniture resale operation and recently started working with locals in the area on a commission basis for pickups and resales on Facebook Marketplace.

Not posting to advertise anything, just genuinely looking to connect with Memphis folks who might be interested in earning extra income through furniture flipping. Flexible, no fixed schedule, and no experience needed.

If anyone is curious about how it works, happy to answer questions in the comments.

Hey everyone!
I'm putting together a small side operation during the Alma Highland Festival (May 22 to 24) and I need one person to help me out as a supply runner.

Basically, vendors at the festival get really busy and sometimes run out of things like ice, cups, napkins, or small supplies. They can't leave their booth, so we step in, grab what they need from a nearby store, and bring it back to them quickly. That's the whole job.

What you'd actually be doing:

- Staying close to the Alma College area during event hours

- Checking in with me by text for incoming requests

- Driving to a nearby store, picking up the items, and delivering to the vendor's booth

- Collecting payment on delivery and keeping a simple record of each run

What I'm looking for:

- You have your own car and a valid license

- You're comfortable in a busy outdoor event setting

- You respond to texts quickly and show up when you say you will

- You're honest with money (this matters a lot to me)

Pay and hours:

- $25 per hour, paid in cash at the end of each day

- Gas costs covered on top of that

- Roughly 5 to 7 hours per day across the 3 days

- You can do all 3 days or just one or two, totally flexible

One more thing: I have more events lined up through May and into the summer. If this goes well and we work well together, I'd love to keep bringing you on for future gigs. This could easily turn into something regular.

This is a casual gig and nothing fancy, but it's honest work if you're reliable and local to the Alma or Mount Pleasant area.

If you're interested, drop a comment below with your name, which days you're free, and a short summary of any relevant experience. I'll follow up with you directly.
