Camden County voters will decide whether to pay more taxes to prevent sewage from entering the Cooper River

Hi, my name is Aliya Schneider and I cover New Jersey politics for South Jerseyans at The Philadelphia Inquirer. I went out on the Cooper River and Delaware River yesterday to learn more about the issues the county plans to tackle with the tax increase on the ballot referendum.

With this article, I aimed to explain what the ballot referendum is and what the county's plan entails in an accessible way.

I know there's more bites at the apple here and would love to hear what other questions you have on this. Feel free to reach out on Signal anytime aliyareports.22

Gov. Mikie Sherrill proposed an 80% cut to a program that provides job training and support to Hispanic women. The budget is due in days.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill proposed cutting Hispanic Women's Resource Centers by 80%. If the money isn't restored in the final days of the budget process, the program will face detrimental cuts.

There are 14 of these sites across the state including five in South Jersey: Camden, Vineland, Hammonton, Pennsville, and Rio Grande.

Sherrill’s proposal would “drastically cut” the number of resource centers. Sites in Hammonton and Lakewood would likely be on the chopping block and services would be cut down in 8 of 11 counties.

New Jersey political betting?

Hi, I'm a journalist looking to speak to people who bet on the primaries in New Jersey, particularly in South Jersey. My post with my contact information got automatically deleted, so I'm trying this again!
