Hey everyone, I’m looking for some insight into a persistent issue with my girlfriend’s 2020 Hyundai Accent. We’ve taken it to multiple mechanics, but nobody seems to find the root cause.
The Symptoms:
• Jerking/Stuttering: The car jerks and hesitates while driving.
• High Revving: Sometimes the RPMs spike excessively without a corresponding increase in speed.
• Limp Mode: After driving for a bit, the transmission gets "stuck" in 5th gear. It stays in 5th even when starting from a complete stop, making acceleration extremely slow.
• Power Loss: It struggles significantly to climb even the smallest inclines when the issue occurs.
• The "Fix": Turning the car off and back on several times temporarily resets it to "normal," but the problem always returns.
Work Already Done:
• Engine oil and filter change.
• Transmission fluid change.
• Replaced VVT Exhaust Solenoid.
• Replaced several sensors.
Despite all this, the car still falls into this "limp mode" state. Has anyone dealt with something similar? Could it be the Transmission Control Module (TCM), a specific internal solenoid, or perhaps a wiring harness issue?
Any advice or technical leads would be greatly appreciated before we keep throwing more money at parts. Thanks in advance!
