📱🔥 No more 45 minute on deciding which movie to watch 🎬🤔

Built my first mobile app. It's now in Android beta!

I'm a full-time software developer, and this is the first app I've taken from idea to a public beta.

It's called Synema, and it tries to solve a problem my friends and I always have: spending ages deciding what movie to watch.

The idea is simple: everyone joins a room and swipes left/right on movies, and when everyone's done, you're left with only the movies the group actually agreed on.

The Android beta is now live, and the iPhone beta should be available in the next few days.

If you're curious, you can check out the landing page here: https://synemaapp.com

I'd love to hear what you think of the idea, UI, or overall experience. And if you'd like to help shape the app before launch, leave a comment or send me a DM - I'd be happy to invite you to the beta.

Happy to answer any questions about the development process, tech stack, or the journey of building it. 🙂

⭐ 📱 Finally got my first mobile app into beta. Looking for honest feedback. 🔥👀

Built an app because my friends spend longer choosing a movie than watching one.

I'm a full-time software developer, and over the past few months I've been building my first mobile app after work.

It's called Synema, and it's meant to solve one problem: deciding what movie to watch with friends.

Instead of scrolling streaming services forever, everyone joins a room and swipes left/right on movies. At the end, only the movies everyone liked remain.

The app is currently in Android beta (with iPhone beta coming in the next few days), and I'd love some honest feedback on:

  • Is this a problem worth solving?
  • Is the UI intuitive?
  • Would you actually use something like this?

You can check out the landing page here: https://synemaapp.com

If you'd like to help shape the app before launch, I'd love a few more beta testers. Just leave a comment or send me a DM and I'll send you an invite.

Brutal feedback is very welcome. Thanks! 🙏

This app will end movie night quarrels

I built my first mobile app to solve movie night arguments. Looking for Android beta testers!

Hi everyone!

I'm a full-time software developer from Finland living in Sweden, and my latest hobby project is a mobile app called Synema.

https://synemaapp.com

The idea came from a problem my friends and I kept having every single movie night.

We'd spend 30-40 minutes scrolling Netflix, Disney+, Max, etc., only to end up watching the same movie we've already seen... or giving up completely.

So I decided to build an app to make deciding what to watch a little less painful.

The concept is simple:

  • 🎬 Create a room
  • 👥 Invite your friends or partner
  • 👉 Everyone swipes movies together in real time
  • ❤️ When everyone likes the same movie, it's a match

I'm now at the point where I'd love to get some honest feedback from people who don't know me.

The app is currently in Android beta. Ideally you'll have a friend, partner, or family member to test it with, since that's how it's designed to be used—but there's also a solo mode if you just want to explore the app on your own.

I'm especially interested in feedback like:

  • Was anything confusing?
  • Did you encounter any bugs or crashes?
  • Would you actually use something like this?
  • What feature would make it significantly better?

If you're interested, just leave a comment or send me a DM.

I'll add your Google account to the beta and send you the installation instructions.

You can also check out the landing page here:

https://synemaapp.com

Every piece of feedback genuinely helps. I'm actively working on the app almost every day, so there's a good chance your suggestions will make it into the next update.

Thanks! 🙂

Beginner song suggestions

Hi!

Im looking for beginner-ish songs to play on my Suzuki Hammond in C.

Not the super beginner songs but something that will challenge me enough. I like Red River Valley and stuff like that which I guess is kinda folkish? Nice melodies that aren't too short so I have something to memorize.

But other blues songs aswell, or longer riffs. Would be nice to build up a liat of songs/tunes to learn while I get better! And yes I know there's a lot of info online haha. Thought it would be fun to hear your favourites.

Thanks! :)

Learning to relax

Hi!

As a beginner, I'm just wondering whether about the whole "learn to relax your jaw" etc. to get better low/high notes, not losing breath etc.

Is that something that suddenly "clicks" when you figure it out, or is it more something that just naturally comes after lots of repetition? Like should I be actively thinking a lot and try different things, or should I mainly just keep playing and repeating?

How long did it take you?
