[no spoilers] Props to CW (Sound person)

I just looked at the latest Lore Keepwr’s Ledger and I was DELIGHTED to read that they were spending some time with CW, the sound person. And I realized that I haven’t had ANY complaints about mixing or sound in C4!

I used to hate how sometimes players voices were so different in volume in old campaigns, or they were so dynamic that when they went quiet I had to crank the volume on my car stereo while driving, only to have someone else burst out in loud laughter and be too loud.

Or sibilance. Sometimes cast or guests would be very sibilant and those S sounds were ear piercing.

And every time I’d be like … can they not use modern mixing tools like compressors, gates, expanders, de-easers etc to get quality balanced sound? Why is this mix so bad? Even at parts in C3 when it was no longer live.

I’m happy to realize that those days are long gone and I didn’t even realize it. When somebody is doing everything right, you tend not to notice that they’re doing anything at all.

So my apologies and my appreciation to CW, whoever you are, thank you!

NSV - those stupid college desks

You know those stupid college desks where the chair and desk are attached? The ones that are made so small that when a fat person looks at them their hearts shrink cause they know they’ll never fit in one, and the whole room full of skinny people is about to watch them try and fail? So you end up just standing against the wall at the back of the classroom and when someone invites you to sit you just kinda say “no I’m good. I’d rather stand” and everyone knows why? Those things? The ones invented by the devil himself?

Yesterdat I not only fit in one, BUT THERE WAS A GAP.

I’m not going to college, I’m a mid career professional. But I went to see a family member perform at a music competition and it was in a large classroom. I was so worried about these little bastards (the desks I mean) and so happy when there was more than enough space to fit. Thought I’d share.

I’m mid-way through my career. Over the past several years more people on my family and social circle have been telling me that they thought I had undiagnosed autism. So recently I started seeing a professional about it and they’ve confirmed a positive diagnosis for level 1 autism.

I’m waiting needing about self-identifying. I know it’s voluntary and we’re encouraged to do so. I also know that there are special supports like language training for EE groups. But at the same time if you apply for or join one of those, you’re also broadcasting your EE status, which is fine, but could come with some inherent bias risks.

I wanted to know what peoples’ lived experiences are with self identifying for EE. Good? Bad? No noticeable impact at all?
