Does 2k even try anymore?
Hard to figure out what the most ridiculous rating is here.
Spencer's 3pt rating < 90
Ced has a lower 3pt rating than Stewart
Ced has the same 3pt rating as GG
Omax has a better 3pt rating than Ced, Wells, and Grant
Edey has a 70 dunk
Edey has the same 3pt rating as Ced
Best and worst playoff seedings.
With 14 games to go, 1.5 games separating the 2nd and 6th seed, and a bunch of games between the teams, there are a ton of ways the standings could shake out.
Best:
Lynx
Fever
Dream
Aces
Valkyries
Wings
Liberty
Mystics
Fever could end up only having to play the Liberty, Dream/Wings, and Aces to be the champs. This would arguably make them the favorites. Also the Fever would have home court throughout if they play the Aces.
Worst:
Lynx
Aces
Dream
Valks
Fever
Wings
Liberty
Mystics
Fever would have to go through the Valks and Lynx on the road to reach the championship. On the plus side, no one could say they got lucky if they did somehow win.
Still feels like this team has much higher levels it can get to.
Summer League Playoffs.
After today's game, the Grizzlies should be one of the favorites to make it into the playoffs.
The way playoffs is determined is:
- Record
- Head 2 head record
- Point differential
After tonight, there are only 11 other teams that have 1 loss or less.
- Lakers
- Hawks
- Suns
- Celtics
- Magic
- Nets
- Rockets
- Warriors
- Nuggets
- Raptors
- Spurs
If the Grizzlies Beat the Hawks (If they don't, they're out):
Then we can immediately eliminate the Hawks and Warriors since Grizz will have won both of those games, and then we can also eliminate any team that's played 4 games and has a lower point differential. The Suns, Celtics, Magic, and Spurs. It would take a Grizzlies loss to finish lower than them which wouldn't matter because the record would get them anyways.
This leaves us with 5 teams ahead of the Grizz:
- Lakers
- Nets
- Rockets
- Raptors
- Nuggets
Except the Grizz got super lucky because the Nets and Rockets play each other so whoever loses will have 2 losses and be out of the playoffs
- Lakers
- Nets/Rockets
- Raptors
- Nuggets
That just leaves the Raptors and Nuggets who are currently down 3 points in point differential to the Grizzlies.
Unfortunately, the Grizz game is before both the Raptors' 2nd half and Nuggets game, so they won't know how much to score. One plus side is every rotation level Grizzly will keep playing no matter the score is because they need the point differential.
It's also possible but less likely that the Grizz could catchup to the Lakers or the winner of Nets Rockets.
TL/DR: If the Grizz beat the Hawks and have a point differential that is >=- 2 points better than the Raptors or Nuggets, they'll make the summer league playoffs.
Thoughts on the Ja trade
I think the Grizzlies sold way to low, but this situation reminded me a lot of this video I posted above.
Jerami Grant fits the mold for the new Kleinman wing: 7'2.75" Wingspan (+8.25) and has shot 82.7% on FTs over the last 6 seasons. Plus, he's a vet so I think there's a real chance he's staying
Let the battle for PG1 commence.
The Grizz just got back more players than they sent out on a roster that already has too many players. Really interesting to see who is still here for the Grizzlies by opening night.
| Zach Edey | Purdue | Grizzlies |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1 was solid but not special | ✅ | ✅ |
| Year 2 was super special according to advanced metrics but on limited playing time. | ✅ | ✅ |
| All-star/All-conf forward thought to be better than him. Outplayed in year 2 and gone in year 3 | ✅ | ✅ |
| All-NBA/All-American PG with issues, never reached their full potential together, gone in year 3 | ✅ | ✅ |
| Team is thought to not be good after losing so much talent. | ✅ | ✅ |
| Considered the 3rd best team in the league | ✅ | Remains to be seen |
| Became NPoY/MVP in year 3 | ✅ | Remains to be seen |
Kleinman pulls this off and the Grizzlies are all the way back.
Zach Edey and Cam Boozer are the first ever consecutive consensus NPoYs to be drafted by the same team.
Cooper Flagg was not a consensus NPoY. Sporting News picked Johni Broom over Coop.
As far as I can tell, the last consensus NPoYs to be drafted by the same team were Tim Duncan and David Robinson by the Spurs. Duncan was 10 years younger than Robinson whereas Boozer is only 5 years younger than Edey.
This was last year. He's still a teenager this year.

Ty is a really good player, but he doesn't fit the Grizzlies timeline with the Grizzlies likely set to draft a teenager as (one of) their best player(s). In the limited minutes Ty played this past season he was incredible which makes him the perfect sell high player.
Warriors want vets and this is a way to get an extremely productive vet.
The trade failed according to fanspo but I was wondering if someone else had more knowledge of the cap how a trade very similar to this could work.
If the Warriors say no, what picks could the Grizzlies give them to say yes?
