Audi A5 2008 3.0tdi
My A5 seems to have developed a clunking noise, seemingly from the left rear, when making sharp turns at low speed (eg. Car park ramps, think going over a speed bump at an angle type things). It seems to clunk to one side and then back the other way when I turn sharply the other direction. It also seems more unstable on the road, with a subtle vibration through the whole car at speed. Entirely possible these are unrelated but seems like a unlikely coincidence.
I previously did change the rear sway bar for a stiffer unit after which the car drove very well for a few months, I did however leave the standard drop links. As I result I suspected the bushings in them had gone bad as a result of the increased stress however I can't find any play in them and can't replicate the clunk with the car stationary.
Other items I've checked:
No leaks from the CV boots
ARB securely fastened
Rubbers (can't use the T word on here) all the correct pressure
No discernable play from the bearings
If rubbers are wearing unevenly it's very subtle
Springs all seem to be correctly seated
Shocks arn't leaking
No random items or spare loose within the car/boot
I suspect it's a bushing issue, maybe in the control arm or ARB links but I can't tell visually.
Any ideas? I'm starting to think I'm imagining things..
