My daughter (6 y/o) has been wanting her own pet in her room for a while. She has always loved spiders (or pashees as she called them as a toddler) and I found this fishing spider at a local creek that I thought would enjoy this old palandarium I’ve had sitting in my shed. She named it “Girl Power”
As one does during Amazon Prime Day I was looking for knife deals. Found this Overland Sport clone in 14c for $19. Never heard of the brand before, MechEDC, but I thought I’d give it a shot for the price. Came sharp, good retention and no rattle with the sheath. Fit and finish is really good on the handles which I was impressed with since they are slightly shadowboxed and the crowning on the tang is nice. Blade grind is very even so all in all I’m quite happy with it out of the box. I looked up the brand’s website and this is one of two knives they make, the other is a trailing point folder which looked meh to me but I also hate trailing points. Their main shtick is fidget spinners.

Pulled the trigger on this one.
I’ve had this old case for a while and don’t remember where I picked it up. I grabbed it to sharpen today and realized I don’t recognize the this blade on it, which looks like some sort of modified wharncliff. Is it just a reprofiled clip point that a previous owner may have done or am I missing something?
