Recs for a handyman or AC expert for baby nursery

Looking for recommendations for an AC expert or experienced handyman in NYC who can check out our portable AC unit.

We have a DREO Portable Air Conditioner 318S (8000 BTU) installed in our baby’s small nursery. It cools well during the day, but at night it makes intermittent loud clunking noises that are waking him up. We haven’t been able to figure out whether it’s something wrong with the unit/install or just normal for portable ACs. Some ideas so far was maybe compressor cycling or plastic expansion.

We’re hoping to find someone who can:
- Inspect the unit and window installation
- Identify the source of the noise
- Tell us honestly whether it’s fixable or just a limitation of portable ACs
- Potentially fix/adjust it if it’s something simple

Has anyone worked with someone good for this type of thing? We’re in Queens but open to all NYC-area recommendations if they service our location.

Trying to figure out whether we can keep using this in the nursery or need to shift our rooms (and all our furniture) around to accommodate a window AC for our baby.

Thanks!

Baby recently started waking at 6am instead of 7am. Schedule issue or age related?

My baby (7 mo) has been sleep trained since 4 months and falls asleep independently for nights and naps with minimal fuss. He’s always been a bit low “ day sleep” needs. We recently transitioned to 2 naps, though some days we still need a small bridge nap around 5pm if naps are short.

Naps are hit or miss, sometimes 30-40 min, sometimes 1h15-1h30 if he connects cycles. Current schedule is roughly 3-3.5/3-3.5/4-4.5 depending on nap length, with bedtime at 8:30pm.

For a long time he has reliably woken at 7am, but recently he’s been waking at 6am. Is this common after transitioning to 2 naps, or does his schedule need tweaking?

Thanks!

Our current nanny is looking for a new role starting in June, as our son transitions to daycare at the end of May. She is open to both part-time and full-time positions.

She is based in Flushing, Queens and looking for something within a reasonable commute. She’s been excellent with our child - warm, engaging, and very reliable - with experience caring for infants and toddlers. She’s also open to roles that include elder care, cooking, and light housekeeping.

She speaks basic English, but is most comfortable communicating in Hindi and/or Gujarati. This has been a bonus for us, as our son has been exposed to a third language from early on.

If interested, please comment and I can DM you to share more details and connect you. She’s been a huge support to us and we’re trying to help her find the right fit for her next family!
