Landfall decks are getting out of hand

I played landfall many years ago with commanders like [[Lord Windgrace]] and [[Omnath, Locus of Rage]] and while very strong, I didn't think they were anything special. But today something changed my mind.

I built [[Hearthhull, the Worldseed]]. You know where this is going. This deck is so easy to play and so powerful that it feels like it just pilots itself. You just have to be aware to not miss a trigger and don't be too greedy when sacrificing and then returning lands from your graveyard.

Almost every card is a variation of "You can play an additional land", "You can play lands from your graveyard" and "When you sacrifice a permanent, something happens", so if you have just one of each, you're golden.

It's so easy and powerful it's nasty. It makes me think that having so many cards with similar effects defeats the singleton idea of the format. Not many years ago you could only play lands from your graveyard with [[Crucible of Worlds]] and that was it.

So, what do you think about this? Is this only a thing happening in landfall decks or are there any other archetypes getting spoiled from so many cards getting released every year?

Briar or Blaze for Silver Age?

My LGS finally got the Chapter 3 precons and I wonder which one could be the best pick. It looks like both of them are really good, especially Briar, but I don't want to end up with a deck that spends more time benched than playable. But I also want something to play competitively at Skirmishes.

I also would like to know if Boltyn, Lyath or Gravy are also worth it, but they don't catch my eye as much as Blaze and Briar.

Thanks.

Any commanders that work well on a budget?

I'm thinking about building a new Commander deck, but I don't want to break the bank to do it. I was thinking about a Dragon tribal deck, but good dragons are sooo expensive, even without the optimal land package.

I would like suggestions about which Commanders will work well on a budget, without needing the optimal lands and the expensive staples. I'm thinking about bracket 2 in terms of power.

I don't want to play already known suspects for powerful budget decks like [[Winota, Joiner of Forces]] or [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]]. More like cool tribal decks or ideas.

Thanks!

Does your main deck reflect your personality?

In the sense of mechanics, art or general flavour. I would like to know if your main deck works as an introduction letter to the rest of the players.

For example, are you the Dragon guy? The Spellslinger? The one with only decks from Bloomburrow? Let me know!

Is Calvary Charge still worth it in 2026?

I've been thinking about this precon and I wonder if it's worth it almost 3 years after it's release. Do you any have upgrades for it? Do you enjoy playing it? Do people enjoy playing against it? I'm looking to have a forever deck and I think this one fits nicely.

Dowgrading my precon collection, help needed

I'm downsizing my precon collection because I find myself with too many of them and storage is starting to get tricky. So far I have these ones:

- Elven Empire [[Lathril, Blade of the Elves]]

- Dungeons of Death [[Sefris of the Hidden Ways]]

- Undead Unleashed [[Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver]]

- Vampiric Bloodline [[Strefan, Maurer Progenitor]]

- Buckle Up [[Kotori, Pilot Prodigy]]

- Riveteer Rampage [[Henzie "Toolbox" Torre]]

- Mind Flayarrrs [[Captain N'ghathrod]]

- Painbow [[Jared Carthalion]]

- Urza's Iron Alliance [[Urza, Chief Artificer]]

- Corrupting Influence [[Ixhel, Scion of Atraxa]]

- Cavalry Charge [[Sidar Jabari of Zhalfir]]

- Sliver Swarm [[Sliver Gravemother]]

- Fae Dominion [[Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor]]

- Blood Rites [[Clavileño, First of the Blessed]]

- Revenant Recon [[Mirko, Obsessive Theorist]]

- Grand Larceny [[Gonti, Canny Acquisitor]]

- Eldrazi Incursion [[Ulalek, Fused Atrocity]]

- Squirreled Away [[Hazel of the Rootbloom]]

- Endless Punishment [[Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls]]

- Eternal Might [[Temmet, Naktamun's Will]]

- Temur Roar [[Eshki, Temur's Roar]]

- Counter Intelligence [[Kilo, Apogee Mind]]

- Dance of the Elements [[Ashling, the Limitless]]

- Silverquill Influence [[Killian, Decisive Mentor]]

So yeah, that's a lot. They're as they came, with no upgrades. I'd like to keep a few, but I can't decide which ones I want to keep. My personal criteria is the following:

  • It has to be upgradeable with cards from its own set. By this I mean that if I were to upgrade Temur Roar, I'd only want to do it with cards from Tarkir Dragonstorm. This is because I want to keep the theme and to restrict myself from buying expensive upgrades. The problem is that some precons are more upgradeable this way than others. For example, Squirreled Away is a so-so precon, but has a lot of support for Squirrels and Food in the main set. Same for Temur Roar and Dragons. On the other hand, precons like Endless Punishment, which are really good, have very little support for their gameplan in the main set. Cavalry Charge, for example, only has two cards from March of the Machine actually worth including. This is especially true the older the precon is.
  • It has to actually be playable in bracket 2 games once upgraded, and maybe sometimes in a chill bracket 3.
  • I have a strong affinity for tribal decks, so that might be worth noting.

And that's it. I have strong decision paralysis about this, so I'd love to hear your insights and personal experience with these precons. Thank you.
