Brew With Community

Thursday, July 23 at 10:00 PM (Rome time).

Well... as the title suggests, there will be an event. But forgive me if some things that are obvious to others aren't obvious to me. I'm brand new to this subreddit, and I was wondering what the event actually involves. Do we all create our own posts at the same time, or do the moderators make a single post where we all comment and attach photos of what we're brewing at that moment?

Replacement gaskets for the old stainless steel Carmencita moka pot.

Hello everyone, I'd like to ask if any of you still use the old Lavazza Carmencita moka pot (manufactured by Balzano) and whether you know if the gaskets for the new Carmencita (made by Ilsa) are also compatible with the older model. Thank you in advance for your help.

The definitive way to dry your moka pot

Obviously, you should wash it exclusively in the washing machine. And when the weather's bad and there's no sun, just toss it in the dryer. /s

What are the classic shaving products in your country?

Dear r/Wicked_edge community,

I always enjoy scrolling through this subreddit and seeing the products you use, especially when I come across products I had no idea even existed, only to later discover that they are true classics in a given country, with their history and a tradition rooted in people’s homes.

That made me wonder What are, in your country, the classic cornerstone shaving products? I mean locally made historic products that have accompanied generations of people both in their homes and at their trusted barber.

To give you an example, I’m Italian.

In Italy a cornerstone is the Ludovico Martelli line with Proraso. Floïd and Valobra (Floïd of course is Spanish, but for as long as I can remember it has been part of the collective imagination here; it has been, and still is, the iconic barbershop aftershave par excellence. Valobra unfortunately today only makes bath soaps, but in the past it produced an excellent almond shaving soap, highly appreciated).

And of course also Cella Milano, another timeless classic of Italian barbershops.

For completeness, there are also more supermarket or mass market realities such as Mirato S.p.A., with aftershaves like Malizia and Intesa, and MilMil 76 S.p.A. (Figaro).

I would really like to hear from people in other countries what their equivalents are, those local historic and well established products that I may not know but that are widely known, used, and appreciated in your country, passed down through generations.

Fountain pen ink experts, what are the closest matches to these colors?

Hi fellow fountain pen Redditors! I'd love to borrow your eyes and expertise to help me find two fountain pen inks that come closest to matching these two Winsor & Newton colors. Thanks everyone for your input!

Cheesey question

Hello everyone, Wicked Edge community!

I've just started participating in the group, and seeing the wide variety of products we use, a question came to mind:

If, for the next 10 years, you had to choose and use only one brush, one shaving soap, one razor, one type of blade, and one aftershave, what would your choices be?

I'm curious to read your combinations and the reasons behind each choice!

Moss rose "Salet"

This rose is one of my favorites in my collection it has a wonderful fragrance, sweet and enveloping. Its colors and petals are reminiscent of some Bourbon roses, such as Louise Odier, but it is extremely thorny and has the characteristic wrinkled foliage typical of moss roses. Another feature I absolutely love is the mossy growth on the buds just brushing against it leaves a resinous substance on your fingers with a delightful piney, resin like scent.

- Vladimir Nabokov, Lolita

- Fëdor Dostoevskij, I demoni

- Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

- Victor Hugo, Notre-Dame de Paris

- Stendhal, La Certosa di Parma

- Stendhal, Il rosso e il nero

- Stephen King, Shining

- Jane Austen, Orgoglio e pregiudizio

- Fëdor Dostoevskij, Delitto e castigo

- Lev Tolstoj, Guerra e pace

- Lev Tolstoj, Anna Karenina

- Racconti di Lev Tolstoj

- Victor Hugo, I miserabili

- Goethe, Faust e Urfaust

- Cervantes, Don Chisciotte della Mancia

- Alexandre Dumas figlio, La signora delle camelie

- Alexandre Dumas, Il conte di Montecristo

- Michael Ende, La storia infinita

- John Milton, Il paradiso perduto

Vi ringrazio in anticipo per la disponibilità.
