Jackie’s commemorative event

Curious to know how many attended in person and where they traveled from. It would be cool to issue a post-event survey to your rsvp list. Could ask how many in their party; how many days did they spend in BB; did you bring kids; was this their 1st time visiting BB…etc. could also
ask for suggestions for future events… I’ll go first: a pancake breakfast. 🥞

We went to the Discovery Center after the Big Bear Summit program and it was packed. The walking/bike trail was packed. (Temps in SoCal probably brought some folks).

Also if 10/3 will be Jackie’s Day with planned events, I suggest to include a shoreline clean-up on the event schedule.

If visitors would be compelled to clean the lake shore, it would be an actionable recognition of Jackie’s legacy and impact.

I posted on the Jackie and Shadow sub that we picked up yards and yards of fishing line in 20 minutes on just a small stretch of beach. Captain John’s marina was littered with TP. What kind of heathens think that’s ok?

Owl roadkill

Came here to ask what is proper handling of a roadkill owl that is on a highway. It happened a couple weeks ago. Husband moved it off the road, and it’s bothered me since. Plus repaving happening this week.

Today I stopped, put it in a box and brought it home.

Should I put the poor creature out in the gulch? Or bury it?

We have a few owls around here but I had had just photographed a barred owl in our yard a couple days before this roadkill incident. At the time I assumed it was “my” owl, but realize and hope it may not have been.

I’ve been crying for weeks over Jackie so this was too much.

Owl in my backyard (PNW)

It was fun to watch this guy fly around in the yard for about an hour last evening. I can’t identify what sort of owl he/she might be. This is near Puget Sound in Mukilteo WA.

What type of Owl?

This guy hung out in our yard for about an hour last evening. I’m in Everett WA. Is it a Barred Owl? A short-eared owl? It was so cool to watch him fly from tree to tree.
