Overanalysing Kavethan: 6.6 epilogue + scenes
I'm a huge fan of these two characters as individuals and in a relationship with each other, so you can imagine my excitement while playing the latest archon quest!
Let's start with moments I liked between the two. I have noticed that their relationship had developed even more than the previous quest. They started to actually talk about their own feelings and try to understand each other's point of view instead of before where, yes, they were communicating better, but not on such a deep level.
For example, when Kaveh and Al haitham were talking on the roof under the stars, Kaveh got nervous, so Al haitham, who noticed this, asked him if he was nervous instead of saying something snarky.
Another moment where Al haitham comforts Kaveh and cares for his feelings was earlier in the quest, when Kaveh mentioned that he never did something so hard before. He seemed worried for a moment, and when Al haitham sensed that he was worried, he quickly changed the topic by teasing him about the bright side, being that he is finally here when Suneru needs him. Not only is it a cool callback to a popular voice line, but Al haitham said this to calm Kaveh down, and it's further proven by the fact that even Collei noticed how Kaveh got all his confidence back.
There were many more moments of these two that I loved, but I'll talk about the epilogue now!
I love how the previous chapter of Sumeru, which came out years ago, ended with Kavetham, and now, the latest chapter also ends with Kavetham. It's a really sweet detail.
I find it domestic that after the world nearly ended, the two just went home and cleaned up together. Al haitham didn't seem panicked because he had Kaveh with him and it'd be alright. Another thing that Al haitham had done to show their character development was the fact that he told Kaveh he was happy. He is known for being the "stoic scribe", so it's something special that he told Kaveh of all people about his emotions. It was very sincere as well.
And when asked what he was mastering, he was carrying Kaveh's stuff to his room, showing that he's trying to master the nuances of taking care of Kaveh and their relationship.
Kaveh has also seemed to be better with Al haitham, he calms down easier during conversations, and he even keeps his body close to Al haitham. At times, he doesn't really understand the other man's intentions, but it's clear that they care for each other.
