Who currently rents a room in here?

I need to move out soon but these apartment prices are too insane for me, so I can’t afford my own spot unfortunately. I’m starting to look into renting a room instead, but I want to know what the actual experience is like, especially out here in New York.

Who is currently renting a room right now and can tell me how it is? Any tips on what to expect or where to look?

Psa- how do some of y’all afford rent?

We're begging for help! A scalp odor that won't go away

I am absolutely not alone in dealing with this exhausting, isolating condition. The rancia, musty, yeasty scalp smell that returns hours after washing-even with medicated shampoos, dietary changes, and derm visits-It's been 6+ years since I first started having this issue and made living hell.

This is an issue that many others facing, which | learned from post asking others for help. I'm constantly getting DM asking if I found a solution yet. Although I'm constantly ruining into dead ends, I want to help myself and these people who are also suffering.

I am officially making it my mission to find a real solution or underlying cause. "Just wash it daily" is an insulting brush-off when the odor defies every standard protocol.

To figure this out, I want to crowd source our collective experiences. If you suffer from this or did , please drop a comment:

And yes we tried Nizoral and Mct oil! No help...

1 What has temporarily reduced or removed odor (even for a few extra hours)? and Please don’t say Nizoral or Mct oil we tried.

2 What made it worse (specific oils, products, foods)?

3 Any specific medical/lab tests you’ve had done that showed abnormal results?

Vaping making body odor worst?

I never really had issue with body odor as I consider myself a clean person but since vaping my body odor is extremely worse. Some days I reek despite doing everything right (showering, deodorant, etc). I am planning on quitting but what you know before hand if anybody else experience this?

Does anybody else deal with a constant scalp odor?

I’m struggling with a persistent smell from my scalp and wanted to see if anyone else experiences this or has found a fix.

The odor keeps returning so quickly that I literally have to wash my scalp every single day just to keep it at bay. I also can't wear hats at all because trapping the heat/moisture just makes it way worse.

Does anyone else with seb derm deal with this? What routines, specific shampoos, or ingredients have actually worked for you to clear up the smell?

I'm now facing eviction because of this, and doctors still have no answers

I made a post weeks ago about needing help with a Persistent scalp odor that won’t go away no matter what shampoo, oil or regimen I use. Well unfortunately, things have gotten significantly more urgent and desperate.

I am currently being threatened with being kicked out of my living situation by the family members I live with, entirely due to this persistent scalp odor. It has officially escalated from a deeply frustrating personal struggle to something that is actively ruining my life and stability.

Despite the severe and undeniable smell ( yeasty, musty, sour)— which, as I mentioned before, returns within hours no matter how frequently or thoroughly I wash—I am still hitting complete brick walls with medical professionals. I have seen multiple doctors and dermatologists, and they all tell me the exact same thing: “your scalp is completely healthy”. They see no visible signs of infection, inflammation, or disease, beside this thing’s associated with my sebderm, leaving them entirely baffled and unable to offer any real help or treatment plan. I also tested for TMAU but I’m also clear of that. I changed my diet, nothing changed.

It is a nightmare to be dealing with an issue so severe that it’s threatening my housing, while the people who are supposed to fix it just shrug and tell me nothing is wrong.

If anyone has any advice, alternative treatments, or has successfully dealt with a "healthy scalp" that still produces a strong, resistant odor, please share it. I am running out of time and options.

Is vaping making it worse?

I've been dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis for a while now, it’s progressively becoming worse with things like scalp odor now. No matter what shampoos or medications I use it’s still there and worse. I am now starting to wonder if there's a connection between the two. I know vaping is bad but didn’t think it’ll have real effects on scalp.

For those of you who vape (or used to):

Did you notice your Seb Derm get worse after you started vaping?

If you quit vaping, did your skin/scalp clear up or show any noticeable improvement?

I know nicotine can affect blood flow and inflammation, but I wanted to see if anyone here has real-world experience with this. Any insights would be super appreciated!

The mystery scalp odor condition that ruined our life…

frequently encounter posts about a frustrating and common issue in here almost everyday or week about a problem i also face. It's crazy how many people have this issue but no one has the answers...

It's a persistent, unpleasant scalp odor that smells or can be described as a rancia, musty, or yeasty that affects many people, including myself.

The core problem is the smell's resistance to treatment despite using multiple shampoos, acids, or medications, and no matter how frequently the scalp is washed, the odor reliably returns within hours. I also eat good foods (pretty healthy diet) so don't know what's going on.

This condition is often speculated to be related to seborrheic dermatitis, but yet the precise cause and origin remain completely unknown.

I been to many dermatologists and they also admit they do not know the root issue and often advise "just keep washing daily
"—a suggestion that is demonstrably useless given how quickly and strong the smell returns.

The constant worry about whether others can smell this odor has a severe impact on mental health, frequently leading to a desire for social isolation. I am continually searching for effective solutions but consistently hit dead ends when recommended products fail to deliver results.

If anyone has experienced and successfully resolved this issue, please share your insights. Any help or remedy suggested would be profoundly appreciated by me and others struggling with this complex and isolating problem.
