So today, I told my mom that I think I have TMAU. I’ve had this issue since high school, and I’ve been isolating myself for years. I’ve heard people make offhand comments about my smell. I’ve had people open windows in the winter just to let in fresh air. I know what my experiences with people have been like.

When I told my mom, I made her cry. She said she couldn’t smell anything and that I’m crazy. She tried to convince me it’s all in my head by telling me different stories. I actually thought the same thing when I first started noticing the smell because no one ever said anything directly to me. But I could see how people reacted.

I feel relieved I told her, but now I’m doubting myself. I’m thinking about getting tested so I can know for sure. Has anyone else experienced something like this, and how did you handle it?

I wanted to know if there was any active servers on discord meant for people with tmau because I think it would be nice to have people to talk and relate to that has the same smelly condition!​​

I got offered a position with a company and decided to bring along another guy with TMAU that I’ve known for a while. The work is relatively easy, the pay is great, and it’s been a blessing for both of us.

What’s interesting is that we’re the only two people in the building with TMAU. We both get reactions that are impossible to ignore, but the opportunity has still been worth it. Out of a crew of around 40 people, we’re among the highest-paid workers with little to no experience, largely because I was fortunate enough to have the right connections.

It’s funny how life works sometimes. Even though we’re probably the two people who get judged the most, we’re also doing better financially than a lot of the people judging us.

The other day management gave a big speech about PPE and said anyone without it would be sent home. The very next day I forgot mine. Instead of sending me home, they found me an extra pair of rated gloves and got me taken care of. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it. You’d think we’d be the first people targeted, not the ones getting helped.

I don’t know if it’s good karma, the universe’s favor, or just life finally balancing itself out, but it’s been nice being on the better side of things for once.

I just wanted to share this because having TMAU doesn’t mean life is over. It doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom. We can still build successful careers, make good money, and create better lives for ourselves despite the challenges we face.

Contemplating about getting this warehouse job at fedex what do y’all think? The pay is decent Im just not sure about the environment though I don’t think it’s should be to bad though hopefully .

Hi so I’ve becoming really depressed lately. My smell is so bad I have so many nats/flys flying around my vehicle and people in other cars are holding there notes. Can’t even drive like a normal person with this messed up condition. The bad thoughts are clouding me so badly. Idk what to do anymore….

I'm going to see tadc the last act on June 11 with my mom but I'm paranoid about the smell and would appreciate any tips to manage tmau at the movie theater​​ so that it's less noticeable​

I don’t know about pursuing these majors cause of the stench 😂 Im kinda of worried about what will happen low-key just need a solution to this problem 😂 Thinking about just doing call center or doing sales from home. Is college worth it or nah? What majors or career do you recommend?

i know a lot of people here found eliminating eggs helpful for decreasing the odour. is it just whites or yolks for you? or both?

I am trying to research potential causes of body odor, and looking at this subreddit has left me even more confused than I was before. The amount of times tmau is just being used interchangeably with body odor is astonishing. Most people are either self diagnosed or undiagnosed, which does not help the cause at all. The amount of people with tmau in the world, the rarity of the condition it simply dosent make sense to have self proclaimed tmau. I understand the need and want to figure out what is wrong but giving yourself an inaccurate diagnosis will not help.

Well, this is week two of my new job. I feel nothing, but also I hate being that person. I mean I can’t help it, but it’s definitely not easy to stay the course. I’m trying to stop from spiraling. Bills need paid, and I’ve things to do. How do yall keep showing up, and going despite this condition?

I just found out beans and eggs are bad for tmau. That is my breakfast.

Can I eat oikos 15g protein yogurt and what else can I eat as far as protein? They say avocodos? But how many because I use to eat a whole one every day.

I wouldnt know I had this until i searched it up so for those who lived in the 80s,90s and 2000s im guessing doctors wouldnt be of much help like nowadays and idk if there was any info about tmau so how did you know? This isnt really related but how did any of you cope back then (80s,90s, early 2000s) with this condition ? What did you guys do because im assuming it would be hard to go outside but thats literally qll you could do back then lol so im interested to know what you did in ur free time

I travel for work and I make sure to record my daily go abouts in and out the hotels, restaurants and more. I always pay via AMEX. I learned that most establishments understand Amex users are not to play with because they almost always side with the customer. So, I can get as many complaints against me as possible at any restaurant or hotel… if I’m treated poorly or face an inconvenience, AND if I have a recording of it, then I’m filing that chargeback.

Yeah don’t play with me. If you’re staff you better watch your mouth and I better not have any issues with guests or my experience here without proper accommodations, or I’m getting my money back…

Hell, honestly that goes for any service. Barbershops, tattoo, I might even try it at airports. People don’t even try me anymore when they see that light flashing and the clerk what I’m paying with. 😂
