Does anyone have extremely severe PATM?

I’ve had PATM for about 6 years, but it was never this bad until around 3 months ago. Before that, not many people seemed to cough around me. Now, it feels like around 95% of people react by coughing.
Sometimes I can hear people coughing repeatedly for around 5 minutes straight, even when they’re in a completely different room. The dramatic change over the past 3 months is what concerns me because I never experienced anything this severe during the previous 6 years.

For people with PATM, how do you manage to get into a relationship?

I’m a 17-year-old male, and I genuinely want to know how you guys manage dating and relationships while dealing with PATM. For me, it feels difficult to even be in a room with too many people for too long because people start coughing, and it makes social situations really hard.
How do you deal with dating, getting close to someone, and spending time with them without constantly worrying about their reactions? Have you found someone who understands your condition, or is your PATM less noticeable than others?
I’m not trying to judge anyone. I genuinely want to hear your experiences

Could the COVID vaccine have triggered TMAU in some people?

I’m 17 now, and I developed what I believe is TMAU around the age of 11. I’ve noticed something interesting while reading Reddit and other social platforms. A lot of people with TMAU seem to say that their symptoms started around 5–6 years ago, which overlaps with the period when COVID-19 and COVID vaccination became widespread.
I’m not saying that the COVID vaccine caused TMAU in everyone, and I’m not claiming that this has been proven. I’m just wondering whether, in some people who were already predisposed to developing TMAU, something related to the vaccine or the immune response could have triggered or brought out symptoms.
When did you develop tmau??

Who has had PATM the longest?

I’ve had PATM for about 5–6 years. For people who have had it for many years, does it get better or worse over time, or does it come and go?
Can it be really bad one day and then much better the next? Is it seasonal for you, or does it change depending on things like diet, stress, or other factors?
Also, what has helped improve it for you?
I’d really like to hear about your experiences

I’m 16 and honestly starting to lose hope. How can I get tested for TMAU?

I’m 16 and I’ve been dealing with this since I was 10. It has affected my life a lot, and I was bullied in school because of it.
I went to a clinic hoping they could help me get tested for TMAU, but they didn’t know what TMAU was. They told me I needed to use stronger hygiene products, even though I already have very good hygiene and shower regularly.
My parent also thinks TMAU isn’t a real disease and that I made it up or that it’s all in my head. I just want to get properly tested so I can know what’s actually going on.
If anyone knows how I can get tested for TMAU, especially a urine TMA/TMAO test, please let me know how you got tested or where I should ask.

Had TMAU + PATM since I was 10, now 17 never had a normal childhood

I’ve had TMAU and PATM symptoms since I was 10 years old. I’m 17 now and it has only gotten worse over the years.
I basically don’t leave my room. I do online school. I’ve never really had friends. I never got to have a normal childhood because of this. It affected everything from a young age — social stuff, school, just existing around other people.
I see people saying they got PATM in their early or late 20s and I honestly feel jealous. At least they had some years of a normal life first. I’ve had this for as long as I can remember in a way that actually mattered, and it completely shaped my whole childhood and teen years in a bad way.
I isolate myself a lot because of the reactions and the odor. It feels like I never got to have a real life.
Anyone else here who started this young? Or anyone who also feels like they lost their childhood to this?
