Oil Analysis #2 2023 Silverado 5.3 WT

Oil Analysis #2 2023 Silverado 5.3 WT

I bought this 1500 WT from a dealership who got several dozen of them used from U-Haul. I got it with 16000ish miles on it. I've had it for about a year and a half. I will assume it was abused for the 16k before I got it.

Most of my vehicles I do 5-6k oil changes on but it looks like I'm going to be keeping with 4k for now on the truck. Based on the last 2 changes I don't feel comfortable extending it out more. I didn't do any towing on this oil change. I was about 50/50 highway miles vs urban in that time.

I'm running 0w-20 per manufacturer recommendations and it's not currently burning any noticeable oil at 4k. I did not pay to have the TBN tests done. At 4k mile changes I'd be shocked if it was anything but good. I am considering 0w-40 in the future but I need some data and the engine needs to be out of warranty.

Side note: several labs do this kind of analysis. I just use this one because it's local to where I am. There are definitely cheaper ones, and it's arguable it's a waste of money. But since I've already been wasting that money, I wanted to share for some conversation.

Being fairly new here I thought I'd share some shelters we made this last winter after we found mom raising her kittens out back. Now year around if I go to check on them it's likely to have 1 if not multiple cats popcorn out of them.

In fact there is one of the original kittens, now an adult with a clipped ear, looking at me wondering why I woke them up. I had to include a picture of them.

In the winter when we get a lot of snow I will scoop paths around everything so they can still use their cat paths and limit the amount of snow they track in.

The shelters are a derivative of the instructions at https://www.alleycat.org/resources/buildan-inexpensive-cat-shelter/

First time TNRing, We have two traps we set. We got one so far. They go into the clinic tomorrow morning and are covered in our garage. I'm not sure if we are going to get the second this time. I think we might have a few that look alike so I might be doing this for a while.

Just found this community and wanted to share. This is Bandit Jr. and the gang. A mom raised her kittens back behind a few of our houses and they've kinda established back there. We are trying to get them all fixed.

Shout-out to Indy Neighborhood Cats and FACE. ❤️

We are in the process of TNRing cats in the neighborhood. The process so far is a lot easier thanks to their help and a program in 46219 is paying for the FACE fee at the moment for community/feral cats. We are doing the trapping ourselves but it definitely helped to be guided through the process.

This is Bandit. We are hoping to get two today. They will go to FACE tomorrow.
