I have been using Linux for a bit, and while I enjoy the freedom of the whole ecosystem itself... I don't like my current setup.
As it happens, I should (hopefully) be upgrading my computer to a Framework 13 laptop as a Christmas gift, and I plan to install Arch on it.
But, that's all I have planned (asides from programs...)
To be specific, I have no clue what DE/WM to pick, and I don't want to keep using my current DE, nor switch back to one I used before.
Put it simply, I'd like to hear what you guys, users of the operating system I have yet to fully use, what DE/WM might "fit" me.
Things to keep in mind:

  • I am okay with setting things up myself, so long as I understand how
  • I want to keep using Rofi (or a Wayland fork if necessary) as my app launcher and Kitty as my Terminal. I'll also be sticking by Vivaldi as my Web browser, and Ly as the login manager
  • Customizability is a need. I tend to get really fed up with my Desktop if it does not look just the way I want it.
  • Out of personal preference, no Tiling WM's (although, ones that can be used as a floating wm all the time are fine)
  • XFCE4, KDE Plasma and Budgie are all DE's I have used, and don't want to use again.

Aside from that, I am really all ears to anything! The general idea of this post is that I want to hear a wide range of suggestions (as wide as my silly preferences permit, that is) so suggest away!
*Please don't forget to mention extra software that may be necessary for a full desktop if the WM/DE does not supply it (Like Openbox, for example)
