Orientation for first year

Hello, I am getting back from a trip from a place with a very sifferent time zone from edmonton on the 29th. I want to know how important it is to go to the FIRST orientation day (I will probably be able to wakeup for day 2 nonetheless) or if i will be fine because I may completely miss my alarm and sleep past orientation due to time difference adjusting. Thank you

What kind of Device should I get?

I am gonna go into my first year of Astrophysics Bsc this fall, and im torn apart between 2 choices for a device, a MACBOOK or a 2 in 1 windows OS based laptop (like a dell or a microsoft). ai always tells me a different answer each time and i think i need someone to tell me based on the classes im taking.
Budget range is around ~$900-1200

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. if anyone has a different device than the types i suggested be used ill also take in for thinking

PS I have a steamdeck at home that runs as a linux pc too at home if that helps change an answer.

Picture of license plate

I do not know the seriousness in which the other posts on this subreddit are, i am just bery worrisome and curious about what could happen to me, cut me a bit of slack i am young. Hello, Me and some friends were driving and parked next to a public street within a neighborhood to check out what was potentially a nice rooftop view in the middle of a park (we just like exploring random things around the city) after we park, 2 of my friends get into a short verbal argument and one of them ends up spilling their drink on the sidewalk. It ends after a minute but the old woman living in the house beside where we parked comes out and takes an umprompted picture of my license plate. Obviously confused, i catch up to the lady and ask her what the reason for it was. She says she took a photo of it incase we do anything problematic and refuses to delete it even after we told her we would park away from her house. (No driveway being blocked) we leave and we go around the park for like a maximum of 3 minutes and leave, as there was no rooftop access. (We really didnt cause any major noise or mischief). I probably dont know how prarnoid i sound but is there any grounds here for me to get in trouble?
