Picking up stitches
Hello hello,
I am knitting the Janette cardigan by Morecca Knit and I don’t understand one thing from the pattern when starting to work the sleeves: “Starting to the left of the shoulder seam, join the yarn and pick up and knit 78 (82) 86 (90)
94 (98) 100 (106) 108 sts along the armhole opening (2 sts for every 3 rows and 1 st for each
underarm st). After picking up the sts, place a marker at the shoulder seam to indicate the
beginning of the short rows. Place another marker at the center of the underarm (dividing
the sts in half) to indicate the BOR”. What does “pick up and knit mean”? Does it mean to knit the first row after picking up stitches AND THEN do the german short rows?
I already finished one sleeve by only picking up the stitches and then doing german short rows starting from the shoulder seam, but the joint looks odd.. looks like there are little gaps or that the stitches are a bit crooked. Will it be solved after blocking? I am about to start the second sleeve and not sure if I did the first one correct 😵.
