Why do low level bank employees tend to talk out of their ass about things they don’t know/understand?

I have a small loan with a local credit union, 2 years ago when filling out the paperwork, details were input wrong or missed a couple different times, resulting in my signing multiple contracts. (Originally it was an issue with payment date I was told vs what was in the contract, and then mistyped my personal info on the second) after signing the third contract 2 years ago, I assumed all was well as the payments have been drafting from my account every month, except this past April which I failed to notice until late last week.

I reached out to my main bank to see wtf, they informed me that the third to last digit in my account number was wrong but had spoken to me and verified the charge before the first payment went through without mentioning the missing number 2 years ago, they have finally gotten sick of processing a payment with incorrect information and returned the payment for April.

Monday, I called 3 times, left 3 voicemails, and sent 1 email asking for them to get back to me. I received a call yesterday, spoke with a nice young lady who told me I needed to speak with account services, I’m transferred to account services who is supposed to be waiting for my call and end up having to leave a 4th voicemail. I received a call back from AS a couple hours later and explained the situation. After correcting my account number, I asked AS if this would affect my credit. AS responded by saying “Well, your payment is over 30 days late and I will see to it that collections will be reporting a missed payment on your credit report. it’s your fault it happened, you knew about it.” (Wild bc I figured it out last Friday at 6 and have been trying to fix it since then. No call or notification from the CU about the missed payment either)

My blood pressure jumped way up and before I said something disrespectful out of frustration, I asked to speak to someone who knew what they were talking about. (Maybe not the nicest way to phrase that but it’s what I said) I was put on a 5 minute hold presumably while AS explained to the nice lady in collections what she had told me, Collections asked me to fill her in, in my own words.

I explained my situation to her and immediately her response was “I could definitely understand the payment not processing under those circumstances, your payment is not 30 days late until the 19th and we won’t report until the 31st day. If you can come in and make a manual payment, all will be well.” I thanked her for her time and clarification provided. It just makes no sense to me why AS would be hostile and tell me it’s my fault and there will be a credit report when she obviously didn’t know what she was talking about. Is it because entering account numbers correctly is part of her job and she fucked up?

Tire recommendations for gravel race

Like a dumbass I signed up for my first 50 mile gravel race in July, rules in the mtb class give me a minimum tire width of 2.0. course is a mix of rough gravel with some small road sections. I’ve been looking at vittorias but I am open to anything
