Help with Thuja Green Giants
So we planted 6 of these about a month and a half ago and they’ve been doing terribly ever since and don’t know if they’re past the point of repair. We can’t seem to get them to sit straight in their holes and have been staking them and had to replant two from being too tilted.
The night before last we had pretty heavy winds paired with a long thunderstorm and when I came home in the morning one had fallen completely and others were crooked again lol.
Upon observing the fallen soldier I noticed the water was not draining like at all so I pulled it out of her hole and there was probably just 10in to a foot of water pooled in there.
We’ve decided to pull them out, till the area to remove any grass, and try to make the soil have better drainage. We originally just used black kow compost dirt to fill around the plants but obviously that was not the move.
How would you guys recommend we go about fixing the drainage issue? Do you think they’re even able to be saved at this point? They’re looking pretty sad and some are browning more than others. I also clearly have no green thumb so any advice is appreciated.
*Also upon inspecting the hole this morning, the soil is boyant but I can no longer see the waterline
