There is the film and novel called "the Lost Weekend" that came out in the '50s. This film was about alcoholism and reckless behavior. There's also the John Lennon connection which I think is more likely what Phoebe is referencing, as she is a big John Lennon fan.
In 1973, John Lennon (formerly of the Beatles) split from Yoko Ono. John and Yoko were having marital problems and she suggested he live in California (they lived in New York City) with May Pang, an employee who had been working on John's album Mind Games.
John and May Pang lived together and had a relationship for about 1.5 years. John referred to this period as his "lost weekend". John initially partook in heavy drinking and partying during this stage of his life but eventually cleaned up, made some of his more commercial music (his first #1 hit since the Beatles), and reconnected with his son Julian. Well really connected for the first time. Julian describes this period as the happiest he ever had with his dad. Later he adopted two cats, moved back to New York and even claims to have seen a UFO. The UFO sighting was quite important to John as he made numerous illustrations of it, included it in his 1974 album "Walls and Bridges" and gave an interview about it.
He eventually got back together with Yoko in 1975, and they lived together for six years with their son Sean, before John was assassinated in December 1980.
I think with Phoebe being out of the spotlight for so long, and this album being a collection of songs she worked on during that time, the parallel to John's "lost weekend" makes sense. I think Phoebe also loves the UFO connection during this period.
She's always been a decent to good 3PT shooter, but she's struggled in New York to hit threes consistently. I don't watch a ton of Liberty games, is it a spacing issue? Is she doing more on defense and just tired/exhausted?
2024 seemed like an outlier when she shot 29.5% (her first season ever under 30%), then last year she shot 24% and this year it's sub 20%!
it isn't a sample size either, she's taking like 3 a game.
Actually kind of wild to see he’s played majority wings/solo on SNL. I assumed he would’ve spammed Beatles songs more. After seeing tonight’s performance, make sure to cherish the time we still have with Paul. ❤️
