Are morganton and hickory areas safe for black family . Moving there for a job early next year

Help! I have three years of hospitalist experience and am urgently looking to relocate to North Carolina, preferably near one of the major cities. I'd really appreciate any guidance or job leads. Thank you!

We're moving to South Carolina for work. My job will be in Camden, but my wife will need to commute to west Columbia once a week for medical follow-up appointments. We'd also like to be reasonably close to shopping and other amenities.
We're planning to rent a single-family home for at least a year, and I'd prefer to keep my commute to Camden to no more than 30 minutes each way. I was considering Pontiac, but I've heard the drive might be longer than expected.
Based on our situation, what areas or neighborhoods would you recommend for renting?

I’m thinking about moving to Columbia, SC this fall for a job. I’m honestly tired of the Wisconsin weather and the long winters. Has anyone here made a similar move and regretted it? Is the hot and humid weather a worthwhile trade-off for milder winters?
