The school computer lab wasn’t for homework… it was for Pokémon Crater.

For many of us, Pokémon Crater was a huge part of the browser gaming era, catching Pokémon, exploring maps, and building your dream team after school.

I recently found out someone is rebuilding that experience from the ground up.

It’s still early development, completely free to play, and supports mobile browsers too.

Really cool seeing a piece of childhood nostalgia come back.

Pokemon Crater remake

Upcoming Pokémon game staying true to the original Pokémon Crater!

It’s still early in development, but it’s progressing incredibly fast. If, like me, you grew up playing Pokémon Crater, come show the creator some support.

They’ve put a huge amount of work into recreating that classic experience while building it from the ground up.

The project is a fan-made remake inspired by the original and isn’t affiliated with Nintendo. (Pokémon Legion)

Compatible with a mobile version also.

Base progress

Just hit the end game, so I’ve spent a lot of time on my base organising it, thought I’d share it. Hope you guys like it. 👍

Core Keeper’s Most Frustrating Design Decision

>! I absolutely love Core Keeper. Progressing through the game and finally obtaining stronger weapons and armour is one of the most satisfying parts.

That’s why it makes no sense that the strongest sledgehammer is still the Iron Sledge Hammer, and the strongest axe is the Iron Battle Axe.

Unlocking weapons made from Galaxite or Pandorium should feel like a meaningful upgrade, but instead they’re weaker than gear you crafted much earlier in the game.

It completely undermines the sense of progression. Why get excited about reaching a new biome and unlocking new materials if the old iron weapons remain the best choice?

For me, this is easily one of the weakest design decisions in Core Keeper. New tiers of equipment should actually feel like upgrades. !<

Mid-game tip: Teleports

>!Currently in the mid game, I found myself needing a ton of teleports for ore boulders, POIs, and other locations. It only just occurred to me that I can create additional worlds and break the first boss teleport there. As far as I can tell, the only requirement is having an Octarine Pickaxe or better.!<

>!Mining the Ancient Waypoints became a feature in Core Keeper with the 1.0 Full Release update. !<

>!Method: Create new world, steal Glurch's waypoint, delete world, repeat. Waypoint can be found 70 tiles from the core, just look for the slime boss area. !<

>!The Mining Requirement: You need a mining stat of at least 851 to mine them by hand. Alternatively, you can use a stationary drill, or Lure Glurch to the waypoint and it will break it.!<

>!It's a pretty handy way to get extra teleports without progressing your main world too much. Thought I'd share in case anyone else hadn't realised this!!<
