DUCKWORTH is Kendrick at his absolute best.
It's genuinely the perfect rap song. Like one of those songs every rapper DREAMS of making. I've talked about Kendrick with a lot of fellow rap heads and we pretty much ALL agree that this shit is crazy, even the guys who don't like/straight up hate Kendrick's music.
Stupidly interesting premise. The music manager who helped you become one of the biggest artists on the planet almost robbed/killed your dad who seduced him with KFC meals? This shit already sounds like a boondocks episode. He communicates it perfectly. Technically elite raps, 3 DISGUSTING beat switches (shoutout 9th wonder), and he's using his most universally liked rap voice (the hoarse, raspy and aggressive one) without any gimmicks. And that's just in a vacuum. Within the context of the album the shit is mind-blowing. Rap at it's finest man.
