First try to write a song.

Currently in my backyard, trying to figure out what to write. The title and the meaning I want the song to have is there. But for some reason my brain farted, and nothing comes to mind.

It is my first time trying this, so no wonder I have this problem.

How did everyone's first try go when they started to write lyrics? And what's your tip for a beginner?

Questions about Virtual Instruments in DAW'S

My MIDI finally came, and I managed to connect it to my FL Studio. Now my only question is, is there a website with free Virtual Instruments? Any good recommendations? I saw some on the internet, but I figured I'd ask others here who have more knowledge.

Edit : Also, another question. Is there anything I should know about using a MIDI, DAW, Virtual Instruments, and making music in general?

What can you tell someone who fears the unknown of something new?

What can you tell a 23-year-old person who wants to do this as a hobby but feels like they started this whole thing late and has no hope of going beyond Level 1?

It's really weird that I still have this thought even tho I planned out everything to start this little hobby of mine.

  • Bought a Midi,
  • testing myself with writing lyrics,
  • picked out a starter electric guitar, and am planning to go to one of these music schools where they can teach me how to play guitar and sing better.

The point is. I really want to do this as a hobby. Perhaps even start something big with it if life gives me the chance.

However, I recently began to have these thoughts of

  • "Am I too late even to start this?"
  • "Others who are the same age as me are musicians and famous. They started this way before I did."
  • "I never wrote lyrics, played an instrument, or have a good voice or knowledge of how to sing. Should I even try?"
  • "It's been years since my last music session in school. I barely remember or know the notes or how to write them down IF I wrote a song."

Others tell me that it's stupid and hard, and I have no hope. I don't care what they say is what I'm saying and doing, and yet for some reason their words are stuck in my head and make me almost stop even before I could start anything. Primarily, those from my own mother.

I watched many videos where they say that anyone can learn to sing. Bringing up examples such as Ed Sheeran, who went from a bad-sounding demo to being a very good singer and famous musician. The same goes for learning guitar. I watch these videos and tips and gain confidence and hope, which then, as I said just above, gets destroyed.

TL:DR What would be your advice to many other people who want to start from literally 0?

I'm sorry if this sounds like a rant or something, but I wanted to collect all my thoughts and questions while I still have the need and want to learn these things.

Vivarium in English?

This question probably flew by many times on this reddit but is there a site or a way where I can read the novel in English?

I only heard a few small parts about it, and I didn't pursue it cause I was okay with the info I got from others. But after I saw a tweet on Twitter saying that a fan sees Ado differently (Not a weird way I think) after they read the novel, it got me curious.

Where to begin

I try to keep this short and understandable.

I want to start playing an instrument and making music as a hobby, and perhaps do something with it in the future if fate is kind enough.

However, I have almost no knowledge about things. I have good rhythm sense, I ain't tone deaf to my knowledge. I never played an instrument, yet the first instrument I want to learn is an electric guitar. I'm planning to buy an electric guitar and also a MIDI cause I heard that that is helpful as well.

So my questions are, and I'm sorry if it sounds dumb.

  1. What should I do in the meantime before I buy those two?
  2. What is MIDI exactly? Does it replace instruments like drums, guitars, etc?
  3. Should I buy a book about this stuff or stick to YouTube? If so, what videos should I watch?

Just for fun

You were dared by a fellow Ado fan. "For a month, you can only listen to ONE song from Ado"

Which one are you choosing and why?

My choice? "All Night Radio". It has a vibe that matches the mood I mostly have nowadays.

So the Ao Concert.

I know that it was the first day but I'm curious what happened after I heard rumors about the concert. I heard she performed with Mafumafu and other stuff that I can't mention. I'm only asking cause these rumors makes me on edge and want to know if it's real or not.

What was the concert like everyone who was there.

After a certain art, I can't stop thinking about this.

A person on Twitter did bring up a good point. "You guys wanted her to be a big-time musician; this is the price we have to pay."

Need some advice and guidance

Hello everyone. I'm a 23-year-old, 183 cm tall, and around 50-53 weight. I'm a very skinny guy, which is why I would like to start working out; however, I don't know where to start. out. The problem is that no matter what and how much food I eat, I don't seem to gain weight.

My goal is to gain muscles and not feel shit about myself being skinny. If I have to describe the body build that I would aim for, it would be Yuji Itadori's physique.

I don't have any equipment at home, sadly, but buying some weights is in plan if needed, but not until I come up with a good week workout plan.

Going to the gym, sadly, is a no-go because there is none nearby.

I heard that eating meat, eggs, and other stuff could help, but idk if it does help in my case.

If anyone could give me a 4 or 5-day schedule with what to do, and how many times I need to do those specific exercises would be much appreciated.

Others said that I should start eating foods that would make me gain weight, then work that off and work out. The problem is that no matter what and how much food I eat, I don't seem to gain weight. I probably have some kinda genetic thing since my grandpa had the same thing.

Need a bit of advice and guide.

So far, I have written down all the Hiragana and Katakana letters. Both the pronunciation and the symbol. I wanna ask what should be the next thing to write down that is very necessary? I have been seeing people say that learning Kanji is not really that important, but I don't know if it's true.

Should I start looking up stuff like how to say casual stuff like greetings and saying goodbye, items, animals, etc?

What a weird journey

This weird short journey I'm about to share might be weird, but I just want to share how crazy of an effect this girl has on some people. In a good way.

In the past, I was sadly one of those people who was obsessed with her, wanting to write a fanfic of her, but I quickly discarded that Idea and felt really ashamed. Realizing that that straight up Parasocial stuff. But don't worry, I'm no longer that. I'm on the bright side again. XD

Since then, and after I was listening to her music while going to work, it suddenly made me feel better. Ever since then, I began to think more about how to be a better person. To be healthy and all, starting to work out, wanting to learn how to play a guitar, and perhaps even more. She even pushed me to actually pick up my lazy self and start learning Japanese, so I could finally understand what she and other Japanese artists are singing about, and also go to Japan and explore it with my friends. If I do reach a good level in the language rank, that is.

So yeah, that's all I wanted to randomly share.

TL;DR : I was weird about her, but now I'm normal and feel better and am pursuing my past dreams. (^^)b

Edit : Um, quick question. How much time do I have to buy her book? The Vivarium: Ado and Me. Cause idk if it will be translated into English, but if not, then I can only read it in Japanese, and I don't know when I will be able to do that since I'm still a starter. Is it up in online somewhere in English?

Getting recognized

In your personal opinion. What do you think about people who rather just post their work on the internet rather than doing little performance on the streets and how much chance would they have to be seen and recognized?

Tips for a dreamer?

Hello everyone.

I've been thinking about something that is still quite scary for me to even think I want to achieve. I'm reaching 23 years in life, yet even writing this post is something that I reconsidered many times cause I feel like this might sound childish or it's just me asking dumb stuff.

I want to start writing and making music as a hobby, which I hope will later become something more.

I remember I used to live to sing and move around like it was some karaoke night. But then that faded when I became insecure and a target of others. So for years, I never pursued music like others who are the same age as me or older who made it big.

But I want to change that because now I feel like I want to achieve something, even if it's a little. However, some roadblocks make it feel like it's impossible.

  1. I'm planning to buy an electric guitar and try to learn how to play it, and then use it to make music. However, I never learned or picked up a guitar before, so I don't know where to start.
  2. Gaining confidence. I'm not confident about myself when it comes to writing, singing, or achieving something. I saw a few videos of what others are saying about this topic, but I still want to hear what the people here have to say about this topic.
  3. Where to even begin? Besides coming up with lyrics and the song, where do people who want to become a musician posts their work? I know YouTube is one, but besides that?
  4. Equipment. I don't have anyone to ask about this. About what kind of app is good, and what equipment I need to get. Which app is good for recording and creating music? What equipment do I need so that I can record the sound of the guitar? What microphone is good for recording the singing part?
  5. Music writing. How do the rest of you do it? This is more of a curiosity about how others write their songs. Do you guys do it when you're in the mood? Late at night, when an idea comes up, and you quickly get up and write it down so that your rival won't get an idea?
  6. How hard is it to do it alone?
  7. Perhaps this question will sound the weirdest, but at what age is it too late to pursue this dream? Many started it around 17-19, yet here I am about to hit 23.

I hope these lines of questions don't sound dumb, and I hope I asked all the important question but in case there's something I left out that I should've asked or known about, I'm happy to hear it in the comments.

They have arrived ;)

Idk what the Japanese words mean but it makes me want to learn Japanese even more so I might not translate it and wait until I can figure it out myself.

Also thinking if I should or shouldn't open the cards, even tho it came with a transparent box.

Stranger Than Heaven is going viral, and it's not even released yet.

I don't know why, but seeing this made me wonder. What are you most curious about Ado's character in Stranger Than Heaven?

I'm honestly curious how weird it will feel hearing her voice in a game. I don't mean it in a bad way, I'm just saying this since this is her first VA moment.
