I think killed in combat is a little bit of an understatement...
Rereading all the books and Catching Fire obviously covers Haymitch's games too. I love rereading it now and picking up on all the things which are expanded on in SotR.
I think this line here, about Wellie, is the only real inaccuracy aside from the numbers in the career pack (claimed there were ten when there were eleven at that point unless I have counted wrong) and I think that claiming she died in combat is a very broad description of what did happen to her. 😬😂
No hate to the innacuracies whatsoever, they aren’t even necessarily innacurate, just an odd description. Collins made the right call with Wellie's death being so shocking and if it followed Catching Fire with this unnamed tribute dying generically in combat, it would have lost so much.
Edit: I had forgotten about her having the blowdarts entirely. 😬
What do you think happened to the other mentors during the 75th Hunger Games?
I am really curious to know some other fans' headcanon around what happened?
The obvious is that they all died before the meeting in Mockingjay, but I wonder how and when. Haymitch was the only mentor to arrive back at 13, but surely other mentors would have been involved in the rebel plot?
I have heard people suggest Annie mentored for Finnick and/or Mags, but I think that is impossible based on her mental health struggles and the fact Finnick read a poem dedicated to her during his interview.
I would assume some from the less obvious districts involved, like a District 8 mentor (based on Effie's reaction to Cecelia, there was likely a living female victor), were able to go home or were just taken into custody before getting executed. But for more obviously involved mentors like whoever District 3 had (likely someone since they were able to lend their latest victor to mentor Haymitch twenty five years prior) I wonder what happened to them and how Haymitch avoided a similar fate?
I will assume these mentors were simply never mentioned as it was unnecessary to add these as characters quite simply, but it does strike me as a slightly unanswered question, especially when Katniss alludes to the bread from D4 possibly being sent to sponsor Finnick, indirectly referencing the mentors we never hear about.
District 5, 9, and District 10 victors named
Very similar to a post I made about the 74th Hunger Games tributes being named due to the recent stage play, I wanted to as Reddit for their opinions on the fandom pages now lsiting these characters with these names.
I would have thought Gideon should at least be spelt Gidion due to District 5's themes of electrical power.
EDIT: Just realised that I missed 'Deirdre' from D6.
Why can't I see a list of pets?
I have many pets and can never remember what name has been used or not and I don't know why they haven't added a feature to see a list of them all with their names.
Why are these characters now named?
These characters on the fandom were always defined as District X male, why have they now been given names?
Before you comment the origins, I know Jason was what Cato called D6M in the film and the original Hunger Games script had D4M as Bravura, but I am not sure about Drove for D10M as I cannot remember ever reading that.
Turkey Concept
No idea if this has been posted, most likely has, but I would love for them to add turkeys next. This way, we get a completely different animal to chickens that still makes complete sense and it would make sense why it produces a different product (meat).
It can make roast dinners, nuggets maybe, turkey bacon if that is something they wanted to do.
I think it would make sense, but I also don't want them to add too many animals as the lambs feel like they don't truly add that much already.
On a similar note, bulls could be interesting for beef or maybe pigs that sniff out truffles like the squirrels but that would be confusing for both pigs and mushrooms already being in the game.
