Considering Indian Challenger but...

I have only ever ridden the other brand since the day I took 2 wheels on the street. Gotta say I am overly impressed with Indian for the touring bikes, specifically the challenger. Love the simplicity of one fluid maintenance. Love the full liquid cooled engine. Im considering one for wifey and i but I heard one singular horror story and im terrified of it now. There was a coworker I had who has an Indian Chieftain and the frame tore apart at the steering knuckle on the freeway and he broke his neck. Made a recovery but has fused vertebrae in his neck now. I am searching for some kind of info about this issue occuring and if it has been acknowledged and rectified or if this was just a one off deal of awful luck and something I should consider when I make my decision.

Liquid cooled??

Looking into a touring bike for the wife and I. I Want a straight up mobile sofa for going cross country riding together. What can one say about the liquid cooled bikes vs air cooled? Ive only ever had air cooled. Go after it or avoid it?
