Can my 16-year-old sister travel with me from India to the UK for my graduation?

Hey guys, just wanted to check if anyone’s been in a similar situation.

I live in the UK and want to bring my younger sister over for my graduation in December. She was born in Sept 2010, so she’ll be 16 when travelling. We both have Indian passports.

My plan is to fly to India, bring her with me to the UK, and then travel back with her after the trip. I’m 26, so she won’t be travelling alone.

The reason I’m asking is because I heard about someone whose 17-year-old sister was stopped at the airport in India and wasn’t allowed to travel, so now I’m a bit worried.

Since I’m over 18 and travelling with her, I’m hoping it should be okay, but I just want to know if there are any issues from the Indian airport side / airline side / minor travel rules that I should know about.

I’m planning to carry stuff like:

parents’ consent letter / NOC her birth certificate our passports her UK visitor visa my graduation letter return tickets accommodation details

Has anyone done this before or knows if this should be fine?

How do I verify if an international "youth leadership" conference is legitimate or predatory?

I am a postgraduate student in the UK and was invited to the "Youth Impact Conference 2026" (YIC '26) in Prague by the Global Institute for Impactful Change (GIIC). I’m trying to verify if this is legitimate or a "pay-to-play" scheme.

My concerns:

Funding: It is marketed as "fully funded," but the actual benefit is only a $115 airfare reimbursement provided after the event. All other costs, including accommodation, insurance and visas, are my responsibility.

Transparency: The organizer (GIIC) is only a year old (founded 2025) and lacks verifiable partners, independent press, or contactable alumni.

Liability: The contract is entirely one-sided, disclaiming all liability for travel or safety while allowing the host to cancel at any time without compensation.

Questions:

  1. Are these "red flags" typical of predatory conferences?
  2. Does associating with an unverified organisation negatively impact a professional CV?
  3. Has anyone heard of the GIIC?

Any advice on vetting this further would be appreciated.

Seeking recommendations for a friendly, student-budget-friendly hair salon in Exeter

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a recommendation for a hair salon in Exeter that is professional, welcoming, and budget-friendly.

I’m an international student, so I’m looking for somewhere that offers a student discount. My priority is finding a stylist who really listens and can advise on a cut that suits my face shape. I’d love someone who is gentle and takes the time to consult with me. I recently had a poor experience at a salon where I paid £54, but unfortunately, the service was quite rough, and the stylist was unprofessional so I’m feeling a bit nervous about booking somewhere new.

If you know of a salon that is known for being kind, skilled, and has a student discount, please let me know! I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

Thank you so much!

Is this "Fully Funded" international conference a legitimate career opportunity or a red flag?

I am a UK-based postgraduate student and recently received a "Fully Funded" invitation for the Youth Impact Conference 2026 (YIC '26) in Prague this August, organized by the "Global Institute for Impactful Change" (GIIC).

I’m struggling to decide if this is a genuine professional opportunity or a "pay-to-play" conference, and I’d appreciate some perspective. I have several concerns: Financials: The "Fully Funded" offer is just a $115 airfare reimbursement provided 30–60 days after the event; I must cover all accommodation, visa, and insurance costs.
Transparency: The organizer (GIIC) is only a year old (founded 2025) and lacks an independent footprint, verifiable partners, or credible alumni.
Terms: The contract is entirely one-sided, allowing the host to cancel events without compensation and disclaiming all liability for injury, visa denial, or financial loss. Professional Has anyone encountered GIIC, or is this a "pay-to-play" scheme? Any advice on vetting this is appreciated.
