Update: I Cooked Pomfret 🐟

Update: I Cooked Pomfret 🐟

Some of you might remember my earlier post where I was trying to figure out which fish to start with.
Pomfret won the comment section and I went for it.

No dramatic kitchen story. No major disaster. Just me, the fish and my trusty air fryer.

I followed the first recipe that came up on YouTube Shorts and surprisingly it turned out really good. I think I went a little overboard with the lime juice..it tasted a little too lime(y). But for a first attempt, I’ll happily take this. 😄

Big thanks to everyone who recommended pomfret and shared their tips on my last post. You may have accidentally created a person who now thinks they know everything about fish😌

Edit: Adding the recipe here.,

I had used 400-500g of River pomfret
Red chilli powder 1tsp
Kulambu powder 1tbsp
Coriander powder 1tsp
GG paste 1tbsp
Salt
Lime - half (I used one whole lime)
Curry leaves finely chooped
Oil 2tsp
Water as required to make thick masala paste.

Coat the fish slices and marinate for 30mins
Preheat airfryer at 200c for 3mins.
Grease the airfryer basket and Airfry the fish for 10mins at 200c, flip in between.

I know nothing about fish, please help me get started!

I come from a vegetarian household, but over the years I’ve started eating eggs and chicken for fitness and health. Now I’m trying to include seafood in my diet too.

But honestly, enaku suthama idea illa about fishes 😅

I’ve had prawns and vanjaram fry at restaurants and liked both. Now I want to start cooking fish at home. The biggest issue is mullu 😂

I’m very much a beginner and would prefer something that’s easy to eat with less bones or manageable bones.

So experienced seafood eaters, beginner-friendly fishes edhachu suggest pannunga? Preferably something that I can easily get in Chennai.
I’m planning to order from Licious because I don’t know how to select, clean or cut a whole fish myself. If there are specific cuts I should order..please let me know too.

Also, I recently got an air fryer so if you have any super easy, no-brainer fish recipes, please share! Something like..Marinate ~air fryer ~done.

Idhayam murali effect uh irukumo?!??

Throwaway because few of my closest friends know my main Reddit account and I don’t want them finding this (yet).

I met this guy almost 6 years ago when my best friend and I were interning in Hyderabad. He was my friend’s boyfriend’s school friend and we all used to hang out. Nothing ever happened between us. We followed each other on Instagram and that was it.

The 3of them settled in Bangalore. I moved back to Chennai and earlier this year he approached me for a project. We started talking and meeting again but only professionally.

Last weekend, we had a reunion with my friend, her boyfriend and him like the old times. He suddenly confessed that he had a crush on me back then. Apparently he wanted to make a move but was too scared for rejection.

Later that night, he texted me saying he had been following my life through my socials ever since and wished he had done something about that crush and wished he had married me. He said I checked everything off his list and that he missed his chance.

I was honestly shocked, especially because he is married now.
I told him, “You’re married. How can you even say something like this?”
He just said that he married his athai ponnu because his father was sick and that he is not very happy with his marriage.(he has no wedding photos posted on in IG). I left him on seen

I haven’t encouraged him at all but I genuinely don’t know what to make of this. Is this just a harmless confession about the past or is it crossing a line? I want to tell this to my best friend but i for sure know she’ll share it with her boyfriend. I don’t want to create any sorts of drama within the group.
